How did you get to become an Owner Operator?
I started with House of Travel New Plymouth working part time when my son was young, and things grew from there. I ended up co-Managing the store with the former owner for a year then took the plunge in 2019, and now here I am.
What is a day in the life of your role?
A normal day can include selling amazing holidays, staff catch ups, coming up with advertising ideas and promos, working out incentives, group meetings about system enhancements and paying bills. Let’s just say no 2 days are the same.
Do you have any advice for someone wanting to become an Owner Operator?
HOT is a really supportive company to be in partnership with, there is support around every corner.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the variety it gives to my work day.
What is something unique about your team?
I truly believe you have to laugh while you are at work and I think we are good at this. We work as a complete team and for each other not as individual sales people – we have each others backs!
What is your favourite thing about working for HOT?
HOT has a great reputation and it feels like family – it’s that support again
Do you have a favourite destination?
Sri Lanka – loved the variety of the country. Fabulous food, scenery, animals, food and people. Sadly it is not a place to visit right now.
Bucketlist destination?
Eastern Canada and USA. Reinstating our covid cancelled holiday to have a winter family Christmas.
