Cape To Victoria Falls Explorer Camping Safari
Cape Town to Victoria Falls is one of the ‘classic’ overland routes through Southern Africa and it continues to be a firm favourite with travellers with its mix of wildlife, culture and stunning scenery.
Highlights include Cape Town, the world’s second largest canyon at Fish River, the vast dunes and landscapes of the Namib Desert, Etosha National Park, the Kalahari, Okavango Delta, the Makgadikgadi Pan and the raw majesty of Victoria Falls.
On 14 nights you will camp with the group in designated campsites with the comfort of showers and flush toilets as well as spending 2 nights wild camping in the Okavango Delta. On wild camping nights there are no facilities and your Sunway guides will erect a bucket shower tent (water is heated on the campfire) and a pit toilet tent.
It is not all camping! You will also spend one night in Cape Town in a hotel located at the famous V&A Waterfront and two nights in Swakopmund and another in Windhoek in guesthouses with ensuite bathrooms.
Sunway Safaris is 100% African owned and operated and has been hosting travellers on incredible adventures throughout Southern Africa since 1994 with each safari hosted by two knowledgeable, fully qualified Field Guides.

Departing Cape Town from the hotel at 8.00am we will visit Hout Bay, Cape Point Nature Reserve and Boulders Beach before sampling some of Cape Town’s culinary delights at a local restaurant on the V&A Waterfront (dinner own expense).
Day 2 (camping)
Today we head north to the massive rocky wilderness of the Cederberg and explore the landscape that has been shaped in to bizarre and artistic shapes by the wind and rain on foot.
Day 3 (camping)
The landscape will become more arid as we get closer to Namibia. We cross the border and camp at the Gariep River. There is time to relax, swim or a canoe adventure on the river (own expense).
Day 4 (camping)
We make our way to Fish River Canyon, the second largest canyon in the world. In the afternoon we watch as a spectacular sunset slips over the canyon’s rim.
Day 5-6 (camping)
The towering red sand dunes of Sossusvlei form the gateway to the Namib Desert. We will walk to Sossusvlei, explore Sesriem Canyon and enjoy some dramatic sunsets.
Day 7-8 (guest house)
Lunar landscapes surround the coastal town of Swakopmund as we head to the coast. You will have a full free day to explore or book any of number of optional activities from sea kayaking to scenic flights and sandboarding (activities own expense).
Day 9 (camping)
Head north along the arid coast to the Cape Cross Seal Colony before heading inland to Spitzkop. We set up camp under the Spitzkoppe, huge granite domes that rise out of the desert and take a short work to explore further on foot.
Day 10 (camping)
Heading further inland we camp next to the dry Ugab River, home to the rare desert elephants. We explore the mountains on foot with local guides who lead us through this region that is adorned with rock art.
Day 11-12 (camping)
Etosha National Park is in the game-rich north-west corner of Namibia. We game drive around the huge dry pan and waterholes to spot elephants, herds of elephants and hopefully lions. Subject to animal movements we stay at one of three camps in Etosha, two of which have floodlit waterholes for night viewing of wildlife.
Day 13 (guest house)
We arrive late in the day in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital which has harmonious blends of African and European cultures. We eat at a local restaurant tonight (own expense).
