WHY A CRUISE HOLIDAY IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC?
It’s no surprise that cruising to the islands is fast becoming Kiwi’s favourite way to winter holiday.
If you’ve never drunk Kava with a Fijian village Chief, or snorkelled in waters brimming with exotic fish, tick off all the island must-dos with a South Pacific cruise. We are fortunate to have some of the world’s most lusted-after destinations in our backyard, and luckily for us finding paradise couldn’t be easier. Discover multiple desert islands with a Pacific Island cruise. Better yet, many island-bound cruises depart from Auckland, so you’ll remove all the hassle of international flights, airports and transfers. Simply head to the port and jump aboard.
MY HOT TIPS
We love cruising and it provides great value for money - prices include accommodation, buffet dining in main restaurants and entertainment. I highly recommend purchasing a drinks package so everything is taken care of and it makes your holiday hassle free.
During the cruise there are destination briefings with local tips to highlight what gems you’ll discover in the upcoming ports. You can choose to do your own thing at each stop, or join one of the pre-arranged tours.
There’s something for everyone on board, amazing kids clubs, Broadway style shows, exercise classes, spa treatments, pools, movies at sea….the list is huge!
Cruising is popular so book early! Lock in your cruise 12 months in advance, then spend the following 10 months fine tuning the details, such as land add-ons and enriching cultural experiences, or reservations for that speciality restaurant
MY FAVOURITE CRUISE HIGHLIGHTS
Our port day on Dravuni Island was a real highlight, got to love a beach day and the views out to the ship were amazing from the top of the island.
Enjoy a fabulous day out from Suva with a gentle longboat heading towards the highlands. From stunning waterfalls to rainforest, stop to view an authentic Fijian village and after lunch, take a crazy ride downstream on inflated rubber tube.
On board, there is also so much to do. The kids loved grabbing a burger and settled down to watch a movie on the big screen by the pool.
BEST TIME TO GO
The best time to cruise the South Pacific is May to October. The weather tends to be more settled and not too hot and later in the season you may even see some whales!
