WHY HOLIDAY IN BUENOS AIRES?
The unique blend of rich architectural and cultural heritage, electric nightlife, unique traditions, a vibrant arts scene and friendly locals makes it one of the world's most exciting capitals.
The city’s architecture, with many stunning buildings that emulate a Parisian neighborhood, means that it’s sometimes referred to as the ‘Paris of the South’.
MY HOT TIPS
The food and wine in Buenos Aires is incredible. If you love your BBQs then you are definitely in for a treat: parillas (open fire grills) can be found all over the city and cook the most tender meat you’ll ever try.
Empanadas (which are sometimes compared to Cornish Pasties) are also amazing for a quick meal on the run, and be sure to try the dulce de leche: a yummy caramel spread that is amazing with the equally delicious local gelato.
Wine lovers will love the local Malbec – its king in Argentina. World Malbec Day is on 17th April each day - a day to celebrate the renaissance of Malbec as one of the world’s best loved grapes. Where better to celebrate than with a glass in Argentina!
MY BUENOS AIRES HIGHLIGHTS
Buenos Aires is the birthplace of Tango so taking in dinner and a tango show is an essential Buenos Aires experience.
Even if you're not a football fan, you can't pass up the opportunity to go to a match at Boca Juniors if it arises – this is where Argentina’s beloved Diego Maradona rose to fame. Fans are incredibly passionate about their sport and winning the World Cup has just reignited the Argentinian passion nationwide!
A visit to the chic neighbourhood of San Themo: it’s packed with cool bars, shops and restaurants and there’s a daily market that’s well worth exploring.
Eva Peron (Evita) the 'First Lady' of Argentina was a local. Visit the museum dedicated to her (Museo Evita) in Palermo and also her tomb at Recoleta cemetery.
