GO ON A SAFARI

Africa and safaris go hand in hand. In fact, did you know that the word 'safari' is not English? It's actually the Swahili word for 'journey.' Whether you're heading to Mount Kilimanjaro or want to see the massive Victoria Falls, there's an African journey for you.

Kenya is known for being absolutely breathtaking. In the great lakes region of East Africa, the savannah grasslands are full of life. Choose to head off for one week or more, on a safari that will show you what makes this region special.

On a seven day tour, you're likely to see the huge and peaceful African Elephants as well as the other animals who make their home on the savannah, such as lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest and elands or antelope.

There is also the chance to catch sight of the rare Black Rhino and colourful masses of pink Flamingoes. You might meet traditional Maasai warriors for a glimpse into a beautiful and distinctive culture.

Botswana is another area that is fit for a safari. The subtropical wilderness is home to a whole host of fascinating creatures, such as crocodiles, hippos, warthogs, mongooses and monkeys. The landscape is utterly stunning, with dry and extreme deserts right near pristine and thriving oases.

GET YOUR ADRENALINE PUMPING

When you're visiting this intense continent, why not up the ante and try an adrenaline activity? It's a once in a lifetime experience and an amazing way to experience your holiday destination.

Bungy jumping is totally thrilling, and in Africa there are some stunning locations. The Jinja Bungee in Uganda offers the unique experience to take a dip in the Nile River, or over Victoria Falls offer an incredible view.

Have you ever wondered what the highest bungy in the world is? You'll find it at Tsitsikamma National Park in South Africa. Based on the Bloukrans Bridge, you'll jump from a massive height of 216 metres. This jump has the Guinness World Record for the highest commercial bungy. After your debrief session and you've been strapped in, you'll feel a thrill unlike any other.

Swakopmund, on the Atlantic coast of Nambia, is a glorious location to enjoy from thousands of feet up in the air while skydiving. When you reach 4,000 metres, you'll jump from the plane with an experienced instructor. Feel the exhilaration of a 30-60 second free fall, before your instructor pulls the chute chord and you glide on air currents over deserts and the ocean.

TAKE TO THE WATER

Surfing in Cape Time is the delight of a lifetime. Whether you're an experienced surfer or are looking for a place to learn, this is the ideal location. Here are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and some of the best breaks.

If you're a total beginner, there are daily lessons that cater to all ages. You'll learn how to stand and balance, all about water safety and the techniques that make a great surfer.

Just like Cape Town is where you should surf, Orange River in South Africa is the place to go for river rafting. You could take a day trip or a longer trek. The six day rafting experience will enable you to see the hidden gems of this desert reserve area.

Along the way, you'll see bird life and small animals as well as flickering fish. There are fascinating rock formations and semi-precious stones on the banks surrounding you. When you camp on the shoreline, you'll witness indigenous succulents across the expansive night sky - the size of the sky and number of stars is awe-inspiring.

Africa is also a great hub for diving; the Indian Ocean off Africa’s tropical coast has incredible variety waiting for you to witness. You’ve got the crystal clear waters of Zanzibar, Mnemba Island. The archipelagos off Mozambique are also hot spots, where new dive sites are continually discovered.
