Cruise Itinerary:
Day 1 - Budapest (Embark)
Arrive at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. A Uniworld representative will meet you and assist you to the ship if your cruise or tour package includes a group arrival transport or if you have paid for a private arrival transfer.
Day 2 - Budapest
Situated on diametrically opposed banks of the Danube, Buda and Pest both possess a unique personality and charm. Choose from a variety of excursions to discover this vibrant and diverse city. Take a walking tour to get a local's perspective, or go farther with a panoramic tour. Alternatively, select our Jewish Heritage tour, which provides you with a thorough overview of Budapest's Jewish community.
Day 3 - Vienna
Vienna, the grande dame of the Danube, served as the political and cultural hub of Austria and was the beating heart of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This is where Klimt painted, where Beethoven and Mozart wrote, and where Freud created his theories. You have the opportunity to discover its magnificent architecture, astounding art collections, and quaint cafés today. The fabled Belvedere Palace and the architectural features of the Austrian capital can be seen on a city tour. Alternatively, engage in your love of exquisite cuisine and art with a fascinating and unforgettable panoramic tour. Or join our Jewish Heritage excursion to learn about Vienna's Jewish community.
Day 4 - Krems
This afternoon, while your ship sails through the Wachau Valley, you'll want to locate a cozy spot in the lounge or on the Sun Deck. The Bohemian Alps' foothills were carved into a gorge by the Danube over ages, creating a breathtaking 19-mile (30-kilometer) stretch of riverine landscape that was recognized as a World Heritage Landscape by UNESCO. Hilltops are dominated by castle remains; riverbanks are dotted with baroque church towers that signify magnificent abbeys and historic settlements; and steep slopes are home to vineyards and apricot orchards. Here, on the dry-stone terraces above the river, where grapes have been planted for two millennia, some of Austria's best white wines are made. Your cruise will arrive in Krems, in the middle of this breathtaking scenery.
Day 5 - Engelhartszell, Passau
This morning, as your ship sails around the Schlögener Schlinge, a hairpin bend in the Danube that was formerly extremely dangerous for ships but is now a beautiful, peaceful stretch of water, it passes through a visual highlight of the Danube and now leaves Austria behind. Passau, your first port of call in Germany, is a fascinating cultural mosaic where three rivers (the Danube, the Ilz, and the Inn) practically meet, as well as three states (Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic). Discover the town and its primary feature, the largest pipe organ in Europe, or go for a spirited bike ride along the river.
Day 6 - Regensburg
Bavaria’s first capital, Regensburg, owes its impressive historical lineage and rich architectural heritage to 600 years as a Free Imperial City, a fact recognized by UNESCO in 2006. Today, you’ll discover how the beautifully preserved medieval city coexists with a vibrant modern urban center.
Day 7 - Nuremburg
Although the post-World War II Nuremberg trials will always be linked to the city, its rich historical and cultural legacy dates back many centuries.
Go outside on deck or grab a seat by the window to observe the ship maneuver through a succession of locks as it crosses the "continental divide" and passes through the Main-Danube Canal, one of the greatest engineering achievements of the modern era.
This evening, a unique Captain's Farewell Reception and Dinner will be arranged for you.
Day 8 - Nuremberg (Disembark), Transfer to Prague
Get off the ship early and head toward the "city of a hundred spires" as you take a motorcoach to Prague.
Day 9 - Prague
Prague is renowned for its dynamic energy and exquisite ambiance, drawing generations of artists, writers, scientists, and composers (and the beers here are quite excellent too). Here, a millennium of architectural styles, from elaborate Gothic to whimsical postmodern, have been exquisitely conserved.
Day 10 - Depart Prague
You've enjoyed the finest that Prague and the Danube River have to offer, stopping along the route to see intriguing locations and sample a wide variety of delectable foods. Your voyage is now coming to an end. You will be taken to Prague Václav Havel Airport for your flight home if your cruise or tour includes a group departure transfer or if you have paid for a private departure service. Even though your time at Uniworld is finished, we're sure you'll cherish the memories you made for a very long time.
