Hawaiian Airlines is a major US airline based in the Hawaiian Islands at Honolulu. The airline operates flights all around the Pacific rim including routes to mainland USA, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand. They also operate a significant network throughout the Hawaiian Islands. The airline has an impeccable safety record, and is often voted among the best airlines in the US.
The Difference
- Hawaiian Airlines has never had a fatal accident or a ‘hull loss’ (when an aircraft is so badly damaged it’s written off).
- All of Hawaiian’s planes are named after native birds or Polynesian constellations.

The Hub
HONOLULU AIRPORT. Honolulu’s airport is a bit of a throwback to the 70’s and has not yet been transformed into the efficient, well designed airports we’re used to today. This means that walks between the gates, immigration and baggage reclaim can be long (particularly noticeable when transferring to other flights). Works have begun to improve this, but will take time and occasionally cause more hassle. However that being said, thankfully the lines are not huge and best of all, the staff and security officials are much more pleasant than their mainland American counterparts! ‘Wiki wiki buses’ and shuttles connect you to the other terminals and the city.
