Itinerary

Day 1: Cairo - Giza
Arrive at Cairo International Airport where you will be met by a representative to accompany you through the immigration and visa process before your onward transfer to Giza.

Giza, a city located on the west bank of the Nile River, is famous for its iconic landmarks, particularly the Giza Plateau, which is home to the ancient wonders of the world - the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. Spending three nights in Giza offers an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history, culture, and architectural marvels of ancient Egypt whilst staying at the Hyatt Regency Cairo West.

Day 2: Giza
Your day starts with a delicious breakfast at the hotel to fuel yourself for a full day of touring.

Start your adventure by visiting the Giza Plateau, home to the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Pyramid of Khafre, and Pyramid of Menkaure. Explore these awe-inspiring monuments along with Sakkara, Memphis, the Sphinx and learn about their construction and historical significance from your private Egyptologist tour guide.

Don't miss the chance to take some iconic photos with the pyramids and Sphinx as your backdrop, a must-do for any visitor to Giza.

After a day of exploration, consider catching the Sound and Light Show at the Giza Pyramids, which adds an enchanting touch to the experience (at an additional cost). (B)(L)

Day 3: Giza

Today you will visit the latest jewel in Egypt’s crown the Grand Egyptian Museum. This is home to the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to ancient Egyptian history and culture and located near the Giza Pyramids.  It is designed to house a vast collection of artifacts from ancient Egypt, including those from the reign of Tutankhamun and other historical periods.

The state-of-the-art facilities aim to incorporate modern and interactive exhibition methods, allowing visitors to experience ancient Egyptian history in an immersive and engaging way.

Although the museum is not officially open (scheduled to open between Feb/April 2024) visitors can visit and see the impressive architecture with displayed artifacts around the central open court including the Hanging Obelisk and King Ramses II statue.

Return to the Hyatt to enjoy an afternoon cocktail in the hotel’s pool whilst watching the sun set before enjoying local or international cuisine for dinner. (B)

Day 4: Giza - Luxor

After an early breakfast you will be transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor.

Upon arrival in Luxor, you will be transferred to your cruise boat on the banks of the Nile to complete formalities and settle into your cabin.

This is the start of your 4-night Nile cruise where history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes come together to create an unforgettable journey. This is an incredible way to explore some of Egypt's most iconic and historical sites along the longest river in the world, the Nile.

After lunch, you will visit the East bank of the Nile including the Karnak and Luxor Temples. The Luxor Temple was known to ancient Egyptians as Ipet Reseyet, the Harem of the South. The Karnak Temples were known as Iput-Isut, the most esteemed of places. Karnak is built on a massive scale. The complex covers 100 acres and its history spans thirteen centuries.

After your visit to the temples, you will be transported back to your cruise boat, where you will freshen up for dinner and then be picked up for the Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple.  This popular and captivating evening attraction brings the ancient history of the temple to life through a combination of sound, light, and storytelling. The Sound and Light Show takes place in the temple's great courtyard, which provides a stunning backdrop for the spectacle.

The show typically begins after sunset when the sky darkens, and the temple's magnificent structures are illuminated with colorful lights. As visitors take their seats, the lights dim, and a narrator's voice emerges to guide the audience on a historical journey through Egypt's ancient past. Upon completion of the show, you will be returned to the boat and the sanctity of your cabin. (B)(L)(D)

Day 5: Luxor - Esna

This morning wake early for your breakfast on board the ship before heading off to the Valley of the Kings, Deir El-Bahari known as Queen Hatshepsut's temple, and the Colossi of Memnon on the West Bank of Luxor. The West Bank of Luxor is a UNESCO World Heritage site and attracts thousands of tourists and archaeologists each year due to its historical significance and well-preserved structures. It provides an incredible opportunity to delve into ancient Egyptian culture and the fascinating lives of the pharaohs and their subjects.

After the excursion you will return to the cruise boat where it will commence sailing to Esna where it will dock, and guests will enjoy dinner and traditional entertainment. (B)(L)(D))

Abu Simbel is a famous archaeological site located in southern Egypt, near the border with Sudan. It is renowned for its massive rock temples, which were constructed during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BCE. The temples were dedicated to the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah, as well as to Ramses II himself.

Explore with your Egyptologist guide, stand beneath the colossi that guard the Great Temple and spot carved baboons high on the rock face.  Learn the stories behind Abu Simbel's detailed bas-reliefs and hieroglyphs, take in the unusual dedications to Queen Nefertari then slip inside her own exquisite temple.
