ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive Perth
Collect your car hire and make your way to the renowned coastal gem of Scarborough Beach. Just a short drive from Perth's city centre and nestled along the Indian Ocean, Scarborough Beach is celebrated for its pristine white sands, clear turquoise waters, and vibrant atmosphere.

Day 2: Perth & Fremantle
Begin your day the way many Perth locals love to start theirs, by taking in the iconic cityscape on a morning walk, run, drive or cycle along the Swan River foreshore. From here, it’s just a short hop up to the best views in the city from Kings Park and Botanic Garden – one of the largest inner-city parks in the world.

Optional Add-on Tour: Perth Coffee, Culture and Art Walking Tour

Meet your tour guide at Perth Town Hall from 10am and become acquainted with the rich significance of this building, and then get ready to be impressed by a splash of coffee or tea (included) from one of Perth’s trendiest cafes.  Your guide will showcase Perth’s street art, sculptures and architecture all the meanwhile sharing quirky and engaging stories of the city's history. This is a perfect start to the day for Perth first-timers.

In the afternoon, travel 30 minutes south to Fremantle and discover the beautifully preserved 19th century port streetscape. Head for the Cappuccino Strip before hitting the history trail to World Heritage listed Fremantle Prison. If you’re visiting on a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday, experience Fremantle Markets – shoppers and visitors have been drawn here for more than a century. Enjoy the evening at Cottesloe Beach, witnessing a beautiful sunset and having dinner at a beachside restaurant.

Day 3: Rottnest Island
Take the early morning ferry on a day trip to Rottnest Island. The main settlement welcomes you with its historic charm. Maybe rent a bike for the day and traverse the island's sandy paths, discovering pristine beaches like Pinky Beach and encountering the friendly quokkas. After a beachside lunch, join the Rottnest Island Bayseeker Island Tour in the afternoon, exploring hidden gems and landmarks with an informative guide. The journey takes you to the iconic Wadjemup Lighthouse and the rugged West End, for breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean. Dine at a beachside café, capturing the sunset over the ocean.

Day 4: Rockingham & Mandurah
Setting off early on the Kwinana Freeway south, allow at least 45 minutes for the journey to Rockingham. With a string of cafes and restaurants lining Rockingham’s waterfront, breakfast or lunch is just a short stroll from the jetty. Consider heading out with Wildlife Encounters and discover Western Australia’s largest colony of little penguins, as well as rare Australian sea lions and a variety of seabirds.

Optional Add-on Tour: Dolphin, Penguin & Sea Lion Cruise with Perth Wildlife Encounters
Enjoy the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park on this 60 minute glass bottom boat cruise which takes place in the ruggedly spectacular coastlines of Penguin, Seal & Bird Islands and has the best wildlife spotting opportunities of the day. Wild dolphins, rare Australian sea lions, pelican rookeries, and birds of prey are regularly sighted and our friendly crew will get you right amongst the action! Enjoy a 30 minute guided wildlife walk of Penguin Island, providing exclusive insight into the penguins, landscapes and natural history of the island and if you have more time then you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, exploring the nature trails or just relax and enjoy the beautiful nature reserve. Before returning on the ferry at your own leisure. Please note: Operates from 01 May to 03 June 2024

Or, make the 20-minute drive south to Mandurah, where wild dolphins are frequently spotted year-round in the calm blue-green waters of Mandurah’s bay and connecting waterways. You can also encounter them on a short dolphin cruise. Spend the rest of your afternoon browsing the shops, galleries and cultural centres that line the city’s shoreline, or enjoy some of the many other water-based activities on offer – crabbing, fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating, bird watching... the list goes on. Dine out at a waterfront cafe or restaurant, or in true local style, tuck into a fresh feast of fish and chips on the manicured lawns of Mandurah’s foreshore and don’t forget to keep your eye out for more dolphins in the bay.

Day 5: Swan Valley
Drive 25-minute from the city to the wineries and microbreweries, gourmet treats, fresh produce, arts, crafts and beautiful bushlands of the Swan Valley. Some of the wineries offer alfresco dining beside the vineyards, pairing their wines with fine fresh local produce.  Follow lunch with a sugar hit from the Swan Valley’s makers of fine sweet treats, including chocolate, nougat, nuts, ice creams and sorbets. Browse the galleries and workshops for unique pieces by local sculptors, painters, potters, printmakers and woodworkers.

Option Add-on Tour: Bush Tucker Tasting at Mandoon Estate

The Swan Valley region holds a truly unique history influenced  by the traditional owners of the land Mandoon Estate is located on Noongar land. In keeping with its indigenous heritage, Mandoon Estate offers a unique opportunity to listen to the stories of this area and learn about local indigenous food and culture from Noongar Elder, Dale Tilbrook. Taste some traditional bush food with Dale and listen to stories from decades past about indigenous farming methods and the history of the Noongar peoples from this ancient land.  We start the day with a glass of sparkling wine in the new Maalinup Gallery at Mandoon Estate and learn a little bit about the history of Mandoon Estate.  note: The talk and tasting lasts for approximately 60 minutes & a minimum of 6 people are required for this experience.

After a great day exploring the Swan Valley it’s time to head back to Perth Airport and return your vehicle.
