I recently returned from 5 nights in Samoa and I must say it has been my favourite Pacific Island so far! It is a little more rustic and undeveloped than the likes of Fiji and Rarotonga so you won’t find many big resorts.
We opted to stay on Lalomanu Beach at the Litia Sini Beach Fales, this is located on the best beach on the island with power white sands and crystal-clear waters. The accommodation was basic but perfect for what we wanted, I would recommend to the budget conscious traveller that would like a more traditional experience.
At the end of 2013, my husband and I decided to take a year off work and set off for our OE starting with a month long trip across the USA from Los Angeles to New York. We took the route through the Southern states and spent time camping our way through National Parks. My favorites were New Orleans, incredible culture and music - a must do for any USA road trip! I also spent the night at a traditional outback cowboy camp riding horses and toasting marshmallows on the open fire - an experience which I will never forget!
After road-tripping across the USA we entered Canada seeking work for a year. I never thought I would end up working in a beautiful Canadian Lodge in the heart of the Canadian Rockies! My weekends were filled with incredible hikes with scenery out of this world. I also spent time in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and Vancouver Island so planning Canadian holidays is something I am truly passionate about! Canada will always be close to my heart as it is where my now husband, dropped to one knee on the waters edge of Lake Louise - very romantic!
In 2014 I spent 6 weeks in Europe - 2 weeks in Ireland and the UK followed by a 4 week Topdeck Tour. The Topdeck tour was brilliant - it was an easy way to see so many countries in a small space of time with all transport and accommodation included. Its hard to pick my favourite place in Europe - Italy was a highlight because of the food, Poland for the history, Switzerland for the scenery. I loved it all though and cant wait to go back and explore more!
Egypt has always been a place that I have wanted to go since studying Ancient Egypt in school. My mum also shared that passion so together we went to explore Cairo and spend some time on the Sinai Peninsular on the Red Sea where a friend of mine had set up a kitesurfing business. Egypt was incredible and was everything I had hoped it would be, I would love to go back again.
I love Singapore! I can keep going back over and over again and still find something new to do. One of my personal favorites is going to the Asian Food Markets in the evening and eating the local wonton soup and dumplings - yummy! The metro service is a great way to get around in Singapore making all the sights easily accessible, very easy to use too. If you have not been to Singapore then make sure you allow for a couple of nights stop there en route to other countries in Asia or Europe - you wont regret it!
I have been fortunate to visit Thailand twice, Phuket in 2011 and Koh Samui in 2017. I love Thailand - the people, the food and the cheap massages! I highly recommend visiting James Bond Island by sea canoe, a fantastic day out! Thailand is great for a nice relaxing getaway where you will find that you don't need to spend much money whilst there.
A couple of years ago I was able to take part in a luxury educational hosted by Air New Zealand and Active Asia - we visited the incredible Six Senses resorts located on some of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam. Vietnam has always been a destination that I love to sell and some of the places I stayed now allows me to add something different to a Vietnam itinerary that most would not of though of.
I spent my honeymoon in Bali in 2015, we stayed in Ubud, Kuta and Nusa Dua as I wanted to see a few different areas of the island. I would say my absolute favourite place would be Ubud, set up the hills with gorgeous resorts located in the valleys was the most picturesque backdrop. We were very lucky to spend two nights at The Viceroy (photo) - just stunning. The town of Ubud had lovely markets and local restaurants - it felt less commercial than other areas in Bali. I would strongly recommend hiring a driver for the day and getting off the beaten track!
In 2017, I was lucky enough to spend time at Likuliku Resort and Spa in the beautiful Mamanuca Islands of Fiji! This stunning adults only resort is a must-do for couples on their honeymoon or just wanting a relaxing break. The staff were so friendly, the food was incredible, the snorkeling world class. This resort has everything you could want from a Fiji holiday!
