Share your travel experiences
Lonely is the last way you want to feel on your holiday. House of Travel across the Waikato is creating a register of people interested in exploring the world with like-minded solo travellers.
Consultant Angela Taverner is putting together a database covering House of Travel branches in Hamilton City, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Matamata and Morrinsville. Those with similar tastes and interests in international travel will be matched and tour options then evaluated.
Sometimes a holiday can be a wonderful chance to escape alone with your own thoughts, said Angela. Other times there is nothing better than sharing your experiences with a friend or new acquaintance. “We want to give our baby boomers who can’t get the travel bug out of their systems an opportunity to connect, discuss and plan their travel adventures.”
Travel options for seniors are endless, says Angela, covering everything from culinary and botanical tours, to adventure travel, cruises, concerts, events, sports, spas, shopping, beaches and museums.
She says small group tours and escorted journeys are available for senior solo travellers. This can minimise or avoid single supplement costs. “We know that across the Waikato there are a large number of seniors with similar interests in travel,” says Angela.
