I was lucky enough to spend 5 days in Dubai, hosted by Emirates in May 2013 with a large group of New Zealand and Australia agents. Dubai is the most amazing city with amazing high rise buildings (the largest in the world - Burj Khalifa!), luxurious hotels and incredible culture. You will see traditionally dressed Gulf Arabs in their dishdashas and abayas, barter at the souk markets, ride a camel in the desert and make your way down the incredible man-made Atlantis Palms. Dubai truly is more than just a stopover destination!
In November 2015, Singapore Airlines hosted a group of New Zealand agents to Singapore for 5 days. To experience their Premium Economy and Business Class product was an absolute honour, and the service of their airline staff was outstanding. Singapore has so much to offer as both a stopover and destination in itself. A thriving city with wonderful people, rich history and incredible infrastructure such as the Marina Bay Sands Hotel & Casino and Gardens by the Bay with their "Super Trees". Singapore has a lot to offer!
Other than Singapore, this was my first trip to an Asian country and I was very excited to learn about their culture, history and of course - FOOD! 7 days in Vietnam saw my fiancé and I visit Hoh Chi Minh City (Saigon) and Hoi An. It was not long enough, but we saw and experienced enough to know we will definitely be going back. In Hoh Chi Minh City, I highly recommend a visit to the War Remnants Museum, Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta. The best part of the trip was of course the "Saigon Adventures Street Food Tour" riding on the back of a moped! By far, the BEST way to experience the local culture and of course the food.
Hoi An is a change of pace, where their Red Bridge Cooking School is a must, and you can relax by your hotel pool with a drink in hand.
By the time I turned 26, I had already travelled to Europe twice. My first experience in 2014 saw me travel solo on my short OE, where I spent 5-weeks in Europe; 3 weeks of that with 51 other strangers on a Contiki bus! It's a rite of passage for Kiwis, and I sure loved the experience. 2-weeks starting from London to Amsterdam, and 8 days in Greece including cruising the Greek islands secured my love for this continent and all it has to offer.
In 2017 I was fortunate to go back for 2-weeks, and this time I experienced Spain and the high-speed trains between Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid, as well as re-visiting my favourite part of Europe - Paris! If you ever need advice for Paris, I have "Renee's Perfect Day in Paris" I am more than happy to share with you!
In late November/early December 2018 I was honoured to be hosted by Blue Lagoon Cruises/South Sea Cruises on an incredible trip to Fiji. Blue Lagoon Cruises took us up to the isolated, peaceful and beautiful Yasawa Islands on their 4-night Wanderer Cruise. The highlight of this cruise for me was tying up to a coconut tree at their very own private beach on Nanuya Island. What a dream! The 100% local Fijian staff and female captain of the ship were welcoming, friendly and the crew make the effort to learn every passenger's name by the end of the cruise (which is no mean feat as there's up to 68 passengers at one time, and with a 3-night, 4-night and 7-night cruise all in the one week, the passengers are ever-changing!) With a spectacular first day at Malamala Beach Club, and accomodation either side in Denarau this Fiji experience was one I never forget and I highly recommend Blue Lagoon Cruises for those wanting something a bit different to your typical Fiji, and for an authentic Fijian experience
