Our Morning started early on the 26th!
As we were on the first direct flight on the Dreamliner from Auckland to
Adelaide, the celebrations started at the departure lounge, with wine and
cheese and tea and coffee. This flight was named the “cellar Door flight”, top class wine and cheese was also served on board, by a professional sommelier.
Once we arrived in Adelaide we were meet by Mark Blythe from
South Australian Tourism, and we then checked in for our 40 minute flight to
Port Lincoln on Qantas Link. This aircraft was much smaller than the Dreamliner, but the views over the ocean and coastline were stunning!!!
Port Lincoln is one of the biggest towns on the Eyre Peninsular.
The Eyre Peninsula offers a brilliant blend of wildlife, landscapes, fishing and seafood. The coastal waters are home to magnificent giant cuttlefish, playful sea lions, bottlenose dolphins and the awesome southern right whales. Inland
experiences include close encounters with kangaroos, emus and soaring eagles.
The varied landscapes range from secluded beaches to towering limestone cliffs, ancient granite outcrops and the vast emptiness of the Nullarbor Plain.
Once we arrived off our flight we were taken to Boston Bay
wines, for a wine tasting and some amazing seafood, breads, dips and
cheeses! Imagine a place where you can sample fine Eyre Peninsula wines, surrounded by vineyards with a breath-taking vista of blue seas, cruising yachts and perhaps even a whale. Situated in South
Australia on the beautiful Port Lincoln harbour of Boston Bay, Boston Bay Wines produces a premium range of superb red and great white wines.
Once we left Boston Bay wines we checked into our hotel that
we were staying in for the next 3 nights, Port Lincoln Hotel!
A four-star resort hotel with ocean views, located on sparkling Boston Bay. The 111-room hotel features a restaurant, bars, conference and function facilities, gaming areas, gym and swimming pool. On Friday Morning we were meet by David Double from Goin off Safaris who took uson a day tour of the Port Lincoln and local areas. This included a visit to Coffin Bay Oysters, where we were shown the process of getting the oysters, the opening and ofcourse the eating. Saturday was the day we had all been talking about and waiting for…. Cage Diving with the great white Sharks! It was a 2 ½ hour ride out
to where we needed to be, although a little rough, it was worth it. We were taken out with Adventure Bay Charters. Adventure Bay Charters are a multi award winning tourism business that offers some of South Australia's best water based wildlife encounters. Featuring the Australian Sea Lions and Great
White Shark. Both encounters are must do experiences when visiting Australia and the Eyre Peninsula
