In 2017 my friend and I were on a gap year in England. I’m originally from the UK so after having numerous summer Christmas I was
hanging out for another winter wonderland. No better way to celebrate Christmas/New Years then to head up to Edinburgh to celebrate Hogmanay in true Scottish style. We had booked our accommodation right on the Royal Mile so we were able to be involved in all of the festivities that were going on. To make sure we made the most of our time up in Edinburgh we joined a “Haggis Adventure” tour through Busabout. The highlights of this tour were a trip up to the highlands, entry and participation in the torch light procession & Hogmanay Street party tickets. I would relive that week again in a heartbeat!
In august this year a friend and I went on a 4-week train trip around Europe. After a busy 4 weeks we thought we would treat ourselves to a week of relaxation sailing around the south of Turkey. It would be one of the best weeks of my life. As we went during peak summer season each night we would sleep on top of the deck and went to sleep watching the most beautiful sunsets and woke up to the beautiful sun rises. Pure paradise. There were around 20 people on board our boat therefore we had just one Turkish chef to cater breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was most definitely
the highlight of this sail and was to die for (not just kebabs). Each day we
docked in a different town, some of these were Fethiye, St Nicolas Island (Yes
Santa was born here!) and butterfly valley. The Turkish people were some of the most friendly/helpful people I have ever met on my travels and would 100% recommend Turkey as your next travel destination.
