House of Travel Lakers Invercargill

The 2019 New Zealand National Travel Industry Awards were held in Auckland recently, attended by 700 guests from across the industry - airlines, hotels & car hire providers, tour operators, wholesalers, river and cruise operators, and leisure and corporate travel agencies, and Laker House of Travel won two of the major awards;

Laker House of Travel (Invercargill and Gore) won the Best Retail Travel Agency - Multi location. This means we have been officially judged the best Travel Retail Agency in New Zealand that has two or more offices (from all travel agencies/all travel brands nationwide).

The team here in Gore are extremely excited and proud to have won this award, and a very big thank you to all of our customers who have supported us over the years.

HOT Lakers Gore travel tips!

Unless you just must see out of the window then I’d highly recommend you pre-book an aisle seat. It then allows you to stretch your legs out and get up for a walk around whenever YOU are ready and avoids you having to climb over a stranger in the middle of the night ~ Susie

Hating queuing but really want to get a great view over New York City? Head up to the ‘Top of the Rock’ at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Virtually no queuing, access to three viewing decks, a light show during the elevator ride to the top, PLUS you get amazing views of the city and the Empire State Building ~ Charlotte

Lockers at Wet n Wild in the Gold Coast. While you are enjoying your day on all the rides, you can hire a locker for the day for a one off fee. It’s AUD10 for the day, which would take 2 bags or AUD20 a day for a larger family locker. You pay for it at the Surf Shop next to where you enter the park and create your own pin number. You can then go back and forth to the locker as you wish without having to keep paying - Kelly

HOT Lakers Gore recent travel experiences

Think of things on your bucket list and try to factor them into your holiday itinerary. If you are a sports fan why not get us to pre-book a ticket to a grid iron game or to the baseball? I’ve seen the Boston Red Socks play at Fenway Park, eaten a hot dog and drank home-made lemonade whilst the crowd cheered for Big Pappy and the organ played. Picture heading out to Levis Stadium in San Francisco to see the 49ers play a home game and enjoy the pre-game entertainment with cheer leaders and marching bands, and experience the swell of patriotism when the crowd sings the national anthem

Pre-book as much of your holiday as you can before you go. Especially any sightseeing activities. We recently went to the Gold Coast and went to Movie World, Wet n Wild and Dracula’s Cabaret. I pre booked and paid for them all here, so that I didn’t have to budget for them while we were on holiday and if I hadn’t have booked Dracula’s Cabaret, we wouldn’t have got in as it sells out in advance. Buying theme park passes before you go are better value for money, our pass was approx. NZD$113 per person and included Movie World, Sea World and Wet n Wild, as many times as we wanted over 7 days, for a price that wasn’t much more money than buying a single day entry at the theme park.

When travelling to the Islands take your own snacks to save money that you can spend on sightseeing or scooter hire!
