HOT Lakers Invercargill highlights

House of Travel Lakers Invercargill won the ‘Best New Zealand Travel Agency Retail: Single Location' at the 2013 AFTA National Travel Industry Awards. The process required House of Travel head office to nominate just one of their outlets nationwide to represent the overall group in this category, and they chose us. There were only thirteen finalists nationwide from all travel agency brands, and this was reduced to a final five after a voting process by airlines, coach companies, cruise companies, and other travel suppliers as to who they considered to be the best five agencies. The owner of each of the final five agencies then had to make a presentation to an Australian/New Zealand judging panel, who voted House of Travel Lakers Invercargill the overall winner.

We were extremely excited and proud to have won this award, and a very big thank you to all of our customers who have supported us over the years.

At the latest House of Travel annual awards function, attended by owners and staff from all 72 of House of Travel offices nationwide, House of Travel Lakers Invercargill was awarded;

> Air New Zealand voted us ‘Best Travel Agency in the South Island’

> Top Selling Office for Globus & Cosmos Coach Tours

> Top Selling Office for Trafalgar Coach Tours

> Best Escorted Group of the Year for our 2016 South Africa Farming & Footy Tour

If you are looking at taking a coach tour or river cruise of Europe, Britain, USA and Canada, South America, or any other destination, trust your arrangements to our expert team that sell more coach tours and river cruises than anyone else in New Zealand.

HOT Lakers Invercargill staff travels

Ranee has recently been to Oman, her best adventure was an overnight in Wahibi Sands Desert where she got to go dune bashing in a 4WD!

really enjoyed Ankor Wat in Cambodia: great people, history and the unexplored feel of the jungle.

recently spent time in Paris, loved wandering through the streets and gardens, eating macaroons and the great views from the top of the Arch de Triomphe. Watching the traffic going around the roundabout below is very entertaining!

latest adventure was the Sunshine Coast Australia. An action packed 5 days included a visit to Australia Zoo, kayaking, swimming with the seals at Underwater World and a day trip to Fraser Island.

has recently escorted a tour to South Africa where his group went to the All Black game at Ellis Park Johannesburg, checked out the wildlife at Kruger National Park, and travelled down the country to Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. The wildlife was incredible, but another real highlight was the cablecar ride up Table Mountain in Cape Town, the ride up is amazing and the views from the top are simply stunning.

has just been to San Francisco and Las Vegas. Her highlights in San Fran were biking across the Golden Gate Bridge and a Champagne Harbour Cruise of the Bay. The Cirque du Soleil Show at the Bellagio Hotel in Vegas was amazing, the outlet malls were fantastic for shopping, and if your young or young at heart, check out the pool party at the MGM’s ‘Wet Republic Pool’, awesome!

has not long returned from doing a 19 day Topdeck European Winter Getaway. Heaps of highlights along the way, but eating pork knuckles and drinking steins at the Hofbrauhaus in Berlin, and the awesome fairy-tale gothic castles all over Prague were truly memorable.

has been to Singapore, which he loved. Exploring the street markets in Chinatown and tasting the local delicacies was great fun, and his biggest surprise was the Gardens by the Bay, which has the world’s largest man-made waterfall and breath-taking views from the skyline walkway. It’s a must-see attraction in Singapore even if you’re not a gardener at heart.

has recently been to Japan where Kyoto was a favourite with the little tea houses and laneways being exactly how you imagine Japan to be. She was even lucky enough to see a real life geisha. Getting out of Tokyo and into the countryside was a surprise, the landscape was comparable to Switzerland and even NZ. The Japanese people were extremely polite and courteous people, and travelling in their country is very pleasant experience. She was also recently in Bali where she enjoyed a 35km mountain bike starting at Mt Batur through orange orchards and little villages, finishing amongst the rice terraces of Ubud. Teresa loves the food in Bali, with the hardest part being deciding between Nasi Goreng or Mei Goring… rice or noodles…

“When in Sydney, take the ferry from Circular Quay for lunch at the historic Doyles Seafood Restaurant at Watsons Bay”
