Nearly 800 members of the House of Travel Group attended the company’s annual Awards Conference in Auckland recently, and on the night House of Travel Lakers Invercargill was presented with ‘The Best Large House of Travel Office’, which is chosen from over 75 House of Travel offices nationwide.

House of Travel Lakers wins ‘Best Retail Travel Agency – Multi Location
Tony Laker wins ‘Lifetime Industry Achievement’ Award
The 2019 New Zealand National Travel Industry Awards were held in Auckland recently, attended by 700 guests from across the industry - airlines, hotels & car hire providers, tour operators, wholesalers, river and cruise operators, and leisure and corporate travel agencies, and Laker House of Travel won two of the major awards;
Laker House of Travel (Invercargill and Gore) won the Best Retail Travel Agency - Multi location. This means we have been officially judged the best Travel Retail Agency in New Zealand that has two or more offices (from all travel agencies/all travel brands nationwide).
And, the major individual prize on the night was the ‘Lifetime Industry Achievement Award’, of which the criteria is ‘the award recognises an individual for their outstanding leadership and contribution to the New Zealand Travel Industry over the span of their career’. This has only ever been awarded five times before, and of course there are thousands of people nationwide to choose this from. The winner this year was Tony Laker / Laker House of Travel.
We are extremely excited and proud to have won all of our awards, and a very big thank you to all of our customers who have supported us over the years.

really enjoyed Ankor Wat in Cambodia: great people, history and the unexplored feel of the jungle.
latest adventure was the Sunshine Coast Australia. An action packed 5 days included a visit to Australia Zoo, kayaking, swimming with the seals at Underwater World and a day trip to Fraser Island.
has recently escorted a tour to South Africa where his group went to the All Black game at Ellis Park Johannesburg, checked out the wildlife at Kruger National Park, and travelled down the country to Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town. The wildlife was incredible, but another real highlight was the cablecar ride up Table Mountain in Cape Town, the ride up is amazing and the views from the top are simply stunning.
has just been to San Francisco and Las Vegas. Her highlights in San Fran were biking across the Golden Gate Bridge and a Champagne Harbour Cruise of the Bay. The Cirque du Soleil Show at the Bellagio Hotel in Vegas was amazing, the outlet malls were fantastic for shopping, and if your young or young at heart,check out the pool party at the MGM’s ‘Wet Republic Pool’, awesome!
has recently been to Japan where Kyoto was a favourite with the little tea houses and laneways being exactly how you imagine Japan to be. She was even lucky enough to see a real life geisha. Getting out of Tokyo and into the countryside was a surprise, the landscape was comparable to Switzerland and even NZ. The Japanese people were extremely polite and courteous people, and travelling in their country is very pleasant experience.
She was also recently in Bali where she enjoyed a 35km mountain bike starting at Mt Batur through orange orchards and little villages, finishing amongst the rice terraces of Ubud. Teresa loves the food in Bali, with the hardest part being deciding between Nasi Goreng or Mei Goring… rice or noodles…
