Favourite Holidays

Indian Pacific Famil

Queens birthday weekend 2017 was spent a little differently for me, I was already aboard the Indian Pacific Railway Train! Having boarded in Adelaide, I was testing the waters for a 'Food and Wine Tour' through to Perth. Food and Wine Tour... does it get any better?! We sampled the wines on offer in the Adelaide Hills at Mt Lofty Winery. Saw the in's and out's of cheese making with Kris Lloyd, founder of Woodside Cheese Wrights and fulfilled our appetites on board with a Native Food Master class, presented by Mark Olive. Then we even got to indulge our sweet tooth, making our very own chocolate truffles! Courtesy of Sarina Waterman from Chocolate No 5. By the time we got to Perth my jeans were definitely feeling snug! Luckily we ended with a trip to Rottnest Island! Here we got a chance to spread our legs a bit and check out the ocean views with beautiful wildlife. For example the 'Quokka' which absolutely thrive on the island and are extremely friendly - not shy in any way shape or form!

Rarotongan Wedding

In August 2016, I packed the sunblock, mossie repellent and jandals in the freezing cold of Central Otago and headed over to a friends wedding on the sunny island of Rarotonga... It was AMAZING and not just the bride! The Rarotongan people, lifestyle and landscapes are one of a kind! From sitting on a beach getting a dose of Vitamin D, to walking from one side of the island to another up and over 'The Needle'. As well as all the adrenaline inducing activities in between! Whether you enjoy getting covered in mud from the buggy tours or feeling the goosebumps walking around the abandoned Sheraton Resort there really is something for everyone and so much more!

European Adventure

May 2011 the weather had just started getting that winter chill... this was my cue to jump on a plane and follow the sun. This time the sun landed in EUROPE more specifically Italy. I spent 4 months based in a little town called Pianello di Ostra, which is about the equivalent size of Omakau. Within an easy drive to the magnificent beach of Senigallia but more importantly a quick bike ride to a VERY tasty gelateria AND bakery! Although based here I was with some friends who were doing the World Series of Down Hill Mountain Biking so a lot of the time we were travelling from remote mountain villages around Italy, to France, Scotland, Austria, finishing in Switzerland for the World Champs! Boy what an experience! But we didn't stop there. Between the big races we managed to get some tourist attractions ticked off in the likes of Rome. Visiting the mind blowing history there, as well as cruising the isles of Venice and so much more!! It was such an amazing experience and I would definitely go back in a heart beat!
