Favourite Holidays

 

Hawaii

This visit to Hawaii involved a 24 hour trip to the Big Island to visit the Volcano!!  It was incredible.  We also went swimming with the giant Mantarays and spent a few days shopping, dining and swimming in beautiful Waikiki.

USA and Mexico

I have just returning from a fantastic family holiday to the USA and Mexico.  We spent 10 days in LA and San Diego areas visiting Disneyland, Seaworld, Universal Studios and all the highlights.  We then jumped on the Ruby Princess, a 3000 passenger cruise ship and spent 7 days exploring the coast of Mexico.  This was a wonderful way to see Mexico and we all loved the experience.

Las Vegas

The Air New Zealand top achievers trip this year was to Las Vegas, this was a fantastic four days that I got to share with my husband Paul.  A highlight was definately the sunrise Helicopter trip into the Grand Canyon, this is such a beautiful place and to see it from up high was amazing.  We were lucky enough to go the Cirque Du Soleil "Beetles Love" which was incredible.  Experiencing the Business Class lie flat beds just topped off a trip of a lifetime.

Fiji - Malolo Island

We have had the most amazing 10 days in Fiji, spending 5 nights at the Sofitel Fiji and then 8 nights on Malolo Island in the Mamanuca Group.

Fiji truly is a great destination to spend quality time with family, which is exactly what we did.  Denarau was busier and a time spent exploring more before heading to the Island for some relaxation.  The staff at Malolo are extraordinary.  We were treated like royalty from the moment we arrived and our kids were so well taken care of.  The time spent teaching them to snorkel, paddle board, exploring the mangroves and visiting the nearby Islands were just some of the highlights.  The kids club in Malolo is extra special, set up like a treehouse in the middle of the resort it didn't ever feel like the kids were too far away, yet they never wanted to leave. 

Maldives

Visiting the beatiful islands of the Maldives is never a trip I was going to say no to.  When Club Med invited me along to experience this amazing place for myself I jumped at it.  The resorts are stunning and we were spoilt rotten!!

Peru

Visiting The Amazon and Machu Pichu have been on my bucket list for a while.  This trip was full of history and amazing people. 

Hawaii

I was lucky enough to travel to Hawaii in 2013 for the annual owner/operator conference.  This was a fantastic trip and great to visit some of our preferred hotels.  Hawaii is really becoming  a favourite with New Zealand travellers and I can't wait to go back.

Queensland

Having visited the Gold Coast many times we decided to base ourselves near Byron Bay for our Christmas Holiday this year, great location to explore anywhere from Brisbane to Ballina.  Having a rental car meant we could access the Theme Parks and beaches easily.

Avalon River Cruise

In August 2014 I flew with Singapore Airlines to Paris to experience an Avalon River Cruise.  This is a great way to travel, the itinerary I went on was from Paris to Normandy to the D Day landing beaches and it was a great way to see regional France.  This really is a very easy way to travel, you unpack once... the food was amazing and all included as was most of the site seeing.  The few optional excursions were well worth it.

Singapore and Phuket

The convenience of flying directly from Christchurch to Singapore make this the perfect stopover on the way to Phuket.  We had a lovely few days in Singapore visiting Universal Studios and Singapore Zoo, the night markets are a must along with the most amazing malls!!  Singapore really has become a destination itself, we will be going back for a week next time.  From Singapore we flew directly to Phuket and had 10 nights a the amazing Le Meridian Beach Resort, located on it's own private beach between Patong and Karon.  A lovely relaxing holiday.

Fiji

Great family holiday to Fiji with my husband and two children (aged 5 and 3 yrs).  We had a very relaxing time at Plantation Island Resort and loved the Island pace.  The kids club and activities were a big hit.  The staff at Plantation made our stay easy making sure we had everything we needed.  The direct flights from Christchurch on a Wednesday made flying with the kids a breeze.

England & Spain

After living in Europe for many years this was a return visit with my husband and baby.  Fantastic to see London from a tourist perspective and take in the sites.  We never knew London had so many parks and playgrounds and catered so well for families.  We then spent two weeks in a villa in the south of Spain which was incredible.  Having a rental car to really explore the villages and coastal towns was a great idea.

India to Bangkok

One of the most memorable trips of my life. We travelled from Delhi through Rajasthan, seeing the big highlights of the Taj Mahal, Varanasi and the Pushkar Camel Fair. Heading into Nepal was a total change of pace as we headed into the Annapurna region to do some amazing trekking, my husband headed up to Base camp while I stayed on the lower ranges.  A highlight of Nepal was a visit to the Chitwan national park and and Elephant Santuary.  We then made our way over the Friendship bridge and into Tibet where we spent an eye opening few days in the Tibetan hilltribe areas.  Heading into Lhasa and a visit to the Potala which was an absolute highlight.  From here we made our way across China and into Vietnam, great to get into the warmer weather and visit some of Vietnams beach areas.  Making our way through the Mekong Delta and into Cambodia and onto Thailand.  

America

My husband and I purchased a Dodge camper and spent 6 months travelling around America.  Starting in New York we made our way down the West Coast, through Texas and the Southern States and up the East Coast finishing in New York for New Year.  We spent most of our time camping in the National Parks and visiting small town America.  A quick trip our to the Bahamas at the end was a real highlight.

Europe

While living in London I was lucky enough to travel to many countries in Europe and the UK.  Some of my favourites are Turkey, Croatia, Czech Republic and Switzerland. 

Africa

Africa was my first insight into the Third World and is still one of the most memorable trips for me.  I spent 8 weeks on an Overland Truck making our way from Capetown in South Africa up to Uganda.  This truly is one of the most scenic and beautiful continents.
