Where I've Been

Favourite Holidays

Japan

Ultra modern & timeless culture, Japan is full of contradictions!
For the second year in a row I was privileged to join Globus Family of Brands on their Top Sellers trip, and it was another amazing experience!
We began in Kyoto, travelled to Takayama in the Alps, on to Mt Fuji & finished in Tokyo.
It was an action packed 10 days, including visiting the temples of Kyoto, a cooking class where I got to make sushi & teriyaki chicken, the Unesco heritage town of Shirakawa with its thatched roofs, the incredible bling of Robot Restaurant in Tokyo, trying on a traditional kimono, watching Sumo wrestlers train & having lunch with them, and of course what visit to Japan would be complete without a few Karaoke nights!
Everything is so clean, the public toilets are amazing & enjoying the traditional onsen (public bathhouse) is a unique experience. The people are so hospitable & polite, the nature of the Japanese people really is the country’s treasure.

Alaska

Alaska is truly BIG country! Everything is grander here. Such huge open spaces, incredible scenery & some of the friendliest down to earth people you could meet. I was fortunate to visit Alaska, courtesy of Globus tours, on their top sellers trip. It was an amazing experience.
The absolute highlight was witnessing the Northern Lights. Wow! Seeing this is one of those special moments of your life, just breathtaking. Another highlight was travelling on the Alaska Railroad in the Gold Leaf, dome carriage. Stunning views & great service, the only way to travel by rail!
You will see animals, in the interior there are plenty of moose & caribou. There were bears but we didn’t see any sadly. A day cruise in the Kenai fjords was wonderful, although the weather was not great, we saw orcas, humpback whales, sea otters, eagles & puffins.
Our last day was also very memorable, in the morning we took a helicopter ride up to a glacier & went dog sledding on the glacier (another wow moment!) Then we flew to Honolulu & ended the day with a Pina Colada in Waikiki!
Alaska = Wow

Sabah, Borneo

Sabah, Malaysian Borneo:  A wonderful place for a holiday with a great mix of adventure, wildlife & luxury! We had a gorgeous overwater bungalow at Gayana Eco Resort, great snorkelling & diving to start the trip off. Then to the jungle where the accommodation was basic but the location was incredible, highlights were of course the Orangutan’s but also the Gormantong Caves & the Kinabatangan River where we saw lots of local wildlife including the Proboscos Monkey, and walking in Kinabalu National Park along canopy walkways. A wonderful finale was staying at the stunning Shangri La Rasa Ria, an amazing 5 star beach property. I’ll go back here any day!

Dubai

Dubai MegaFamil, 14-21May 2013. Hosted by Emirates & Dubai Tourism we experienced all Dubai has to offer including the Souks of Deira & Bur Dubai, an Abra ride across the Creek, The Burj Kalifa (tallest building in the world) Dubai Mall, Ski Dubai, Wild Wadi Waterpark, Atlantis The Palm & the Dune Desert Safari.
