Where I've Been
Favourite Holidays
Buenos Aires & Iguazu Falls
If anyone asked me what I thought about travelling here for 4 days I would have said crazy!
But- that is exactly what I did. It was exhilarating & you know I would travel to Iguazu Falls for the weekend.
Borneo- Family holiday 2017
In the school holidays we travelled to Borneo. We were fortunate enough to see Orangutans in the wild whilst staying on the Kinabatangan River & were so close to the monkeys we thought we were looking in a mirrior!
We saw giant Green Turtles lay their eggs & baby hatchlings scuttle into the ocean when we zoomed out to Selingan Turtle Island for the day & night.
In Kota Kinabalu we zip lined between two islands, ate great local food & went snorkelling in the middle of nowhere!
I would describe our holiday as soft adventure but our boys Gabriel & Finn still had time to barter for selfie sticks, caps & Richard bought a karaoke microphone!
The locals were so friendly, we felt safe everywhere & the boys never moaned once which to me is a mark of a great family holiday.
Japan
Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto & Hiroshima - my holiday to Japan just seemed to get better & better as we went alone. The organised chaos of Tokyo, serenity of Hakone in the misty mountains, Kyoto with the beautiful temples & Hiroshima my favourite city for the calmness of the the city seems to have after such destruction.
We ate delicious food, spoke no Japanese, travelled on the wrong bullet train & drunk delicious sake. A holiday I did not want to end. True joy.
Qatar
Since Qatar Airways began flying to Auckland in 2017 this has opened another Middle Eastern enroute to London/Europe.
Doha is a beautiful small city which looks out to the Arabian Gulf. I wandered around by myself & felt safe. I loved the Museum, Falcon souk & dune safari. Doha has more of a 'real' feel than Dubai & a definite visit for the 2022 Football World Cup.
Hobbiton
I love it here & everyone thinks I am nuts! - I have been three times & everytime I visit with friends I am in awe of how the set was created. I have never seen the movies ,Lord of The Rings but I am fascinated with the creation of the Hobbit holes & surrounding landscape.
Vietnam & Cambodia
I travelled to both countries with Singapore Airlines & HOTTIES.
WOW -The sights, people & food.
I ate delicious food from street stalls, clambered over Angkor Wat & bought too many shoes in Hoi An! Survived the road crossings in Saigon & felt lucky to have been here.
Shanghai
I travelled to Shanghai as part of the 'TOP 10' consultants prize for House of Travel.
The buildings were amazing, great local food & I was lucky enough to have Richard, my husband with me as well. The view from the Bund in the evening is spectacular.
Disneyland- family holiday 2015
We travelled to Disneyland & Los Angeles as a family- it was everything & more & the joy on our boys faces was a thrill for Richard & I.
Our favourite hotel was the Magic Castle in Los Angeles- the service was amazing & the children were served iceblocks on a silver tray whilst in the pool!
Hawaii- family holiday 2015
The thing that struck me the most was the goergous long beach & the swaying palm trees. It was true bliss.
The shopping was great & it was safe for Finn & Gabriel ( 15 yrs & 7 yrs) to wander around the ABC stores by themselves
Dubai
This was a called a MEGA FAMIL with 300 travel agents.
We did everything & fast (!) - the highlights were the Dune Safari dinner, Wild Wadi, Dubai Museum & the gorgeous hotel overlooking the fountain & Burj Kalifa
