Last travel trips

The most rewarding trip in the last couple of years has been walking the Milford Track. This trip involved some dedicated training but the reward was well worth it. Getting to the top of MacKinnon Pass with the first snow fall of the season was absolutely magic. There are people from all walks of life who do this track and you all start out with one common goal and that is get to the finish without any major injury.
Next year in 2015 I am doing a 21 day accommodated Safari of Botswana and Namibia. This starts and finishes in Livingstone and done in a Safari Truck which only takes 12 people. If you are interested in coming along please let me know.
In 2011 I did a coach trip arriving in Milan out to the Italian Lakes, up to Lucerne, Switzerland, through to Innsbruck Austria for the Chirstmas markets and then down to Venice and back through Verona to Milan. Great place to be in November as not busy with tourists and before the winter tours start. From Milan I took the train back to Venice to board the Azamara Quest for a 10 nite cruise to Athens. It was just wonderfull waking up each morning in a new port and out to investigate for the day. Tours from the ship were available or you could just wander around these ancient cities. Athens you must get there on the last Sunday of the month and all the sightseeing attractions are free to enter, what a day.

Canada

October 2014
Have just done an APT Canadian Rockies Tour, what an awesome trip.
The APT Coach was really comfortable and the driver Terry was great. The Tour Director Linda was just a one off and was so full of information. Don't mess with Linda was a saying on the coach as everything she told you, you did and were on time. The optional inclusions were fantastic and suited a variety of people, the meals were more than you could of asked for and food allergies were well catered for. The sightseeing was spectacular and we were lucky enough to see bears, elk and salmon on their annual upstream run. The views just blew you away and we did experience a couple of snow falls, had really good weather. The Rocky Mountaineer was a good experience and for those that love trains this is a must in your lifetime. Could not complain about the hotels and locations and my favourite was Jasper Park Lodge as it had character from the normal hotel image. Some of the others were iconic hotels and you could see why.
APT were excellent value for money and would highly recommend them to anyone contemplating a visit to Canada. They do operate in other parts of the world with extremely good tours.

Ireland

Ireland 2016
What an amazing country to visit. I always used to promote self drive of this destination but having visited it courtesy of the Irish Tourist Board I would encourage everyone to take a coach tour around the country. It is the people and their stories that make this such a fascinating place to visit and you miss all of these doing self drive.
If you want to treat yourselves a night at Ashford Castle would be my top of the list, followed by the seaweed bath and treatment in the seaside town of Strandhill, County Sligo, something entirely different to experience. The Titanic Museum is also a must visit as this follows the history from creation to demise in the Atlantic and the ongoing research. The Gobbins Walk on the Causeway Coast is also worth a visit, this is only open from spring through autumn.
There is just so much to visit and in the short time of 8 days was just not enough to cover it all. So well worth a second visit.
