The Ghan Expedition

In June of 2018, I was fortunate enough to take part in The Ghan Expedition famil. A 4 day/3 night adventure that takes you from the tropical Darwin to the lush green-lands of Adelaide, making stops in Katherine, Alice Springs and Coober Pedy. I cannot recommend this journey enough for those looking for adventure, friendship and an all inclusive way of travel through the heartland of Australia.

I myself was in Gold class, sharing a Gold Twin cabin with my friend and colleague. Our room was very tidy and had our own private en suite within the cabin. The Outback Explorer Lounges on board is where all the fun is at (besides the Off Train Excursions of course!). Within these lounges you can sip on all inclusive Australian wines, beers, spirits and non-alcoholic beverages, as you pass through the ever-changing Australian scenery. This is also where I made a lot of friends, even with the on board staff themselves.

The only time you'll ever have to put your hand in your pocket, is if you choose to upgrade your Off Train Excursions or find a nice little gift shop at one of your stops (there's even a Ghan gift shop on board the train itself!).

Fiji Mega Famil

Ahhhhh - that's the sound of me taking my first sip of my cocktail while I sit in my beachfront hammock and watch as the sun sets.

In April of 2019 I was thrown into a whirlwind of fun, adventure and intense learning. 56 House of Travel agents boarded a Fiji Airways flight for Nadi and split into 6 groups when we landed into the Island Paradise.

My group were an amazing bunch of people and if I weren't a consultant myself, I'd be booking my holidays with these brilliant people! We had 7 nights in Fiji, where each night we stayed in a different Resort and took part in hosted dinners within the Resort. In total, we did 14 site inspections during our stay.

We explored Lautoka, the Coral Coast and the Mamanucas. Our travel was provided on the main land of Viti Levu by Rosie's Holidays, whom were very efficient and always on time. I loved that their coaches had air con and wifi - many of the resorts in Fiji either offer very limited or no wifi at all.

I was really surprised by how much I'd love the Coral Coast. Before I went on this famil, I always thought that the Mamanuca's and Yasawa's were the best that Fiji could offer. But the Coral Coast offers you many water activities as well as land based activities. You can visit local villages, discover the Biausevu Waterfall or Kula Eco Park. This area really is the cultural hub of Fiji.

For our transport to and from the Mamanucas, we used South Sea Cruises and Leeward Island Services (Malolo Cat). Some of the Resorts even offer their own speedboats for transfer!

I cannot recommend Fiji enough as a couples escape, a family holiday or for those with adventure, culture or food in mind. Fiji offers so much more than a cocktail on a beach. I'll be your Fiji expert so you can relax from the moment you book, until your feet are in the sand or moving through the crystal clear water.
