Where I've Been

Favourite Holidays

Barcelona

Barcelona is a stunning city, full of great food, history, architecture including Antoni Gaudis amazing Sagrada Familia. A walk up the bustling La Ramblas, through Placa Catalunya and on up the Passeig de Gracia to Casa Mila - one of Gaudis other famous houses, will give you that introduction you need. People, food, markets, people and a style all its own.
With a vibrant old quarter, art nouveau, museums and churches, it is a great mix of old and new. Take a trip up Montjuic, visit the Joan Miro foundation and its amazing views, then wander down through the cool garden paths to the massive fountains at the bottom.
When you are done head out to the waterfront and wander along people watching before taking lunch at Tapa Tapa, a well priced easy tapas menu with outdoor tables over looking the beach and the Med. Wander back through Barceloneta to Las Ramblas and home. Not a bad day really.

Portland, Oregon

What a city - full of life, including an amazing craft beer destination, great food and coffee, and a haven for crafty types.

Japan

From metropolitan Tokyo and Kyoto to the smaller towns around the Seto Inland Sea, Japan is an amazing destination worthy of multiple visits. Scoot from city to city on the bullet train, sea the islands of the inland sea by ferry or bike across some of the longest bridges you will ever encounter.
Experience stunning temples, gardens and mountains.

Such an amazing and rewarding destination,

New York - Chelsea

What an amazing place - a city that never sleeps, full, busy and vibrant from the minute you wake up until you say goodnight.
We stayed in Chelsea - just near the Chelsea Market, with its fantastic array of fruit and vegetables, cafes and restaurants, and of course shops such as Anthropolgie. Not to mention that the amazing Highline runs right above the market. This makes a morning coffee and a walk among the elevated garden park a very rewarding start to the day. Now home to the Whitney Museum of Art, this is one part of New York you should spend some time in.

Berlin

What an amazing mix of culture, museum, food and fun. From the famous fleamarkets, Berlin Wall and grand boulevards in the east to the shopping at KaDaWe and the small shops and galleries around August Strasse - it is all going on. An easy city to get around, many museums and galleries, and of course a rich history.

Rio

What a stunning city - Rio is beyond compare when it comes to its amazing geography. This is one of those rare encounters where you can sit atop you hotel rooftop pool, walk Copacabana beach and an hour later be atop the Sugar Loaf mountain or standing in front of Christ Redeemer. A thoroughly recommended experience.

Florence

A weeks in Florence is too short! With so many churches, galleries and museums to see, day trips and food encounters to take in - the usual 2 days isn't enough. We were here in June for a week - with a hotel overlooking the river it was a relaxing haven from the hectic daily life and tourist bustle of the Ponte Vecchio.
