Day 1: Oslo
Arrive in Oslo and take a private transfer to your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure to explore Norway’s capital at your own pace.
Day 2: Oslo
Today you join a private tour, to see the sights of Oslo, starting with The Historical Museum and some Viking treasures, then passing by the Parliament building, the National Theatre, and the magnificent Royal Palace, official residence of the Norwegian Monarch. Then travel outside the city through charming suburban areas with beautiful homes set within manicured gardens and take a guided walk through the extraordinary Vigeland Sculpture Park, created by one single artist. (B)
Today the first day of your Norway in a Nutshell® tour begins by rail rising through quaint mountain villages to the town of Myrdal, where you change to the Flåm Railway. An engineering feat and considered one of the most scenic rail journeys, this hour-long rail trip descends over 800m down the Flåm Valley, to the picturesque village of Flåm where you overnight. (B)(D)
Continue your Norway in a Nutshell® journey embarking on a ferry cruise along the stunning steep and narrow Nærøyfjord from Flåm to Gudvangen. Board the coach for a road journey to Voss, passing waterfalls and superb views of the valley. In Voss, board the train for your last leg on the Bergen Line, which takes you to Bergen. (B)
Join a private walking tour of this beautiful town, including the fish market, the old Hanseatic warehouses, the cathedral and many charming wooden houses. Enjoy a ride by funicular to Mount Fløyen for a last panoramic view of Norway. In the afternoon, transfer to Bergen Pier to board the Hurtigruten ship. (B)(D)
Arrive in Ålesund and explore this pretty art nouveau town. Departures between June-August will also sail into the stunning Geirangerfjord. (B)(L)(D)
Enter the Trøndelag region of Norway, marked by crumpled hills, fields dotted with farmsteads, and low-laying coastal settlements. Take some time to explore Trondheim, a historical town with an array of handsome civic architecture, before continuing to charming Rørvik. (B)(L)(D)
Cross the Arctic Circle in the early morning, followed by a stop in Bodo with some free time to explore. In the afternoon, the ship enters the glorious Lofoten Islands. Take some time to admire the rows of traditional fisherman’s huts on stilts (rorbuer) in the pretty harbour of Svolvær. (B)(L)(D)
Arrive in the historic Arctic exploration capital of Tromsø, whose renowned Polar Museum (Polaria) offers a fascinating insight into Arctic life over the centuries. Leaving Tromsø in the early evening, head north for the trading post of Skjervøy, passing by the Lyngen Alps which rise majestically from the sea. (B)(L)(D)
Cruise past Havøysund, a colourful small fishing village on an Arctic archipelago in the Barents Sea, before arriving at Honningsvåg mid-morning. Honningsvåg is the gateway to the stunning North Cape where a globe monument marks the top of continental Europe. The optional excursion up to the dramatic promontory is very popular, so book early to avoid disappointment. (B)(L)(D)
The vistas become even more dramatic as we approach Kirkenes, only a few kilometres from the Russian border. This is where your Norwegian Coastal cruise ends. Enjoy an unforgettable experience in Kirkenes on the King Crab Safari, either by snowmobile sledge or RIB boat depending on dates of your travel. Learn how to catch, cook, and most importantly eat this mysterious crustacean. Spend the night in a Gamme Cabin at Snowhotel Kirkenes. (B)(D)
Today, a private transfer will take you to Kirkenes airport for your flight to Oslo. On arrival, be transferred to your hotel. (B)
