Day 1: Heidelberg -
Visit the world-famous castle high above the Neckar River, go by the mountain railway up to the Königstuhl Mountain or walk through the narrow alleys in the old part of the town. Finish your day in one of the traditional student pubs of the old university town.

Day 2: Heidelberg – Zwingenberg/Bensheim (approx. 42/48km)
Follow the famous "Mountain Road", the smallest viticulture area in the country. Enjoy the mild climate of the so-called Riviera of Germany, where almonds, figs, peaches and Kiwis are cultivated. One of the highlights of today is the market square at Heppenheim with its timber-framed houses. Via Bensheim you reach the 700-year old town of Zwingenberg. Stroll through the small alleyways below the mountain church where you will find numerous pubs, to try the good wine.

Day 3: Zwingenberg/Bensheim - Bodenheim/Mainz (approx. 46/59km)

Cycle through the flat land along the Rhine and by ferry across the Rhine at Gernsheim. Through meadows and vegetable fields you reach the first foothills of the Palatine vineyards. You follow them through the numerous wine villages. In Oppenheim visit he German viticulture museum. In Nierstein you have the opportunity to take a cruise on the Rhine.

Day 4: Bodenheim/Mainz - Rüdesheim-Assmannshausen-Bingen (37-45 km)

See the impressive Chagall windows in St. Stephans church in Mainz as well as the Gutenberg museum. You can either follow the quiet cycle track on the left bank of the Rhine through fields and meadows or you can visit the village of Eltville on the right Rhine bank.

Day 5: Bingen – Boppard (approx. 42 km)

The romantic Central-Rhine valley forms a rural highlight of your journey. The river flows between wonderful castles and sunny vineyards, overlooked by the mountains of the Rhine valley. Pass castle Reichenstein and the pictorial castle Sooneck and reach the very old wine village Bacharach.

Day 6: Boppard – Koblenz (approx. 21 km)
The cycle track leads you to Spay and Rhens with its richly carved, multicoloured-painted timber-framed houses. From the opposite bank you will see the fabulous Marksburg, one of the most splendid castles on the Rhine. Reach Koblenz, to visit the "Deutsche Eck" a corner at the estuary of the river Moselle; take the gondola up to the impressive fortress Ehrenbreitstein in the evening; or join the cheerful tipplers who enjoy this lovely wine town.
