Camino De Santiago - The French Route self-guided walk

Follow in the footsteps of centuries of pilgrims along the path that was one of Europe’s busiest roads in the Middle Ages. Walking the entire route from the Pyrenees on the border of France and Spain to Santiago de Compostela could take as long as two months, so we have carefully selected the very best of the Camino combining shorter walks with transport provided to take you from the end of one stage to the beginning of the next.

Along the way sample regional specialties as you journey through the varied and contrasting landscapes of five provinces that create the rich cultural mosaic of northern Spain. From the distant peaks of the Pyrenees and the Basque towns of northern Navarre arrive at the vineyards of La Rioja, Spain’s most famous wine-growing region. Continue through the red brick towns and golden wheat fields of the central plateau in Castile and Leon, over misty mountains into the deep green valleys of Celtic Galicia till you tread the ancient stone streets of medieval Santiago de Compostela, the destination of pilgrims from around the world for over a thousand years.
