The most famous trek in South America, is the spellbinding Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. The 43km trail will see you encounter beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud forest, subtropical jungle, a stunning mix of Inca terraces, ruins and paths over high passes before approaching the final and most astounding destination in the Andes, Machu Picchu.

HOT tip: It is highly recommended to book your trek permit 6 months or more in advance. The Inca Trail is strictly controlled with only a limited number of trekking permits issued for each day.
Note: The Inca Trail is closed during February each year.
Day 1: Cuzco – Wayllabamba
Transfer from Cuzco through the Sacred Valley before arriving in Piskacucho, better known as Km82, where your small group trek will begin.
Day 2: Wayllabamba – Paqaymayu
Today, trek via the highest point on the Inca Trail. Known as Dead Woman’s pass at 4,200m. As well as the toughest day of the trek it can also be the most rewarding, traversing through micro climates between points and with wonderful views back down the valley. Your efforts will warrant a real sense of achievement.
Day 3: Paqaymayu – Winaywayna
There are many rewards for trekking the Inca Trail, the beautiful Andean views, to marvel at the Inca terracing and the trail itself, and to visit sites along the trail. There’s no other way to get to Runkurakay archaeological site, enjoy your visit before descending to Sayacmarka.
Day 4: Winaywayna – Cuzco
An early start to trek down to enjoy a majestic view of Machu Picchu, the highlight of any visit to Peru. It’s the shortest trekking section and when you get there enter through the Sun Gate to savour the view and then take a guided tour of the ruins. Later on return to Cuzco via Aguas Calientes by bus and train.
