Peru at a Glance

No trip to Peru is complete without visiting the beautiful Sacred Valley and the evocative and mysterious Machu Picchu. The Sacred Valley has been a lush agricultural region since the time of the Incas supplying Cuzco with fresh produce. Machu Picchu is believed to have been built in the mid-15th century. It remained unknown to the outside world and overgrown by jungle until an American historian Hiram Bingham inspired by stories of a lost kingdom, was led there by a local farmer in 1911. Set high on an Andean mountain ridge, it is an awe-inspiring sight.
