Nelson is well known for its award winning local wines and Craft Beer. It is New Zealand's only hop growing area and we travel through the beautiful grape growing, hop growing, berry growing and orchard areas, to visit the tasting locations. We visit two award winning wineries for wine tasting then a scenic drive to NZ's Oldest Pub (built in 1850 by early German settler Cordt Bensemann) in the rural Hop growing region of Nelson. There you can enjoy a tray of local craft brews and ciders OR if you prefer, a glass of beautiful Moutere wine grown in the Moutere clays. We will also visit at least one other boutique brewery / cidery or add another wine stop on the way home. There is a stop along the way at historic Port Mapua, where you can enjoy a bite to eat (lunch at own cost) or simply wander the boutique shops and galleries on the wharf.

A fun and interesting one day adventure on the Queen Charlotte Sound. Because you only paddle one way into the Sound, this trip provides a fantastic opportunity to see the best of the Sound in a short space of time and in a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. Assemble in the morning with instructions before paddling out of Picton Harbour and down into the Grove Arm in beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound. Once on the water, the group of no more than 8 paddlers heads out towards the southern end of the Queen Charlotte Sound. After an hour or so of relaxed paddling, its time for morning tea, featuring fresh home baked muffins on a secluded sandy beach. Another pleasant paddle across the Sound takes in some of the prettiest native bush in the Sounds. Then its time for lunch. There's plenty of time for swimming, or taking a walk in the bush. The guide will happily talk about fascinating history, wildlife and Maori legends of the area. After lunch (provided) paddle along the shoreline, maybe past the nesting shags, as the group heads across the Sound again to where the van awaits for your return trip to Picton.
