Cruise Itinerary

Date  Location
Wed 09 Sep Depart Auckland - Sydney
Meet your host and fellow travellers for the flight across the Tasman to Sydney. On arrival, transfer directly to Sydney Railway Station to board the iconic Indian Pacific train. The scenery transforms from skyscrapers and traffic lights to the forested valleys and sandstone cliffs of the stunning Blue Mountains. As the sun sets behind the mountain ranges, you will enter the more arid regions of New South Wales, characterised by hardy mulga (a small native Australian tree) and vast plains. Later, join your fellow travellers to savour your first meal onboard – a regionally inspired dinner paired with all-inclusive fine wines and beverages. (D)
Thu 10 Sep Broken Hill – Barossa Valley – Adelaide
Arrive in the ‘Silver City’ of Broken Hill where you embark on a morning Off Train Excursion to discover the mining history and artistic culture of this unique town where the streets are wide and a pub on every corner. Formerly a booming mining town, many artists have been inspired by its distinctive desert landscape. Return to the train for lunch as you enter the southern tip of the spectacular and ancient Flinders Ranges. Arriving in the city of Adelaide this afternoon, you have the choice of a tour of the city including a visit to the world-famous Barossa Valley or McLaren Vale wine regions (seasonal), or a trip to the beautiful Adelaide Hills featuring the culinary delights of Hahndorf. Re-join the train to begin your journey across the Nullabor Plain. (B,L,D)
Fri 11 Sep Nullabor Plain
Awaken this morning to the seemingly endless expanse of the Nullabor Plain, the longest stretch of straight railway track in the world at 478 kilometres. Taking its name from the Latin for ‘no trees’, this vast outback plain has inspired generations of visitors. A seemingly endless expanse of rusty earth and hardy outback shrubs, the Nullabor covers 200,000 square kilometres of South Australia and Western Australia. This evening, enjoy dinner under the brilliant stars in Rawlinna, a remote town in Western Australia, positioned on the fringes of some of Australia’s largest sheep stations. This is one alfresco dining experience to remember! (B,L,D)
Sat 12 Sep Perth
The scenery transforms again as you continue through the picturesque Avon Valley, a patchwork of rolling hills and winding streams. After passing fertile farmland, the journey comes to an end as Perth’s outer city limits come into view. On arrival, transfer to your centrally located hotel with the remainder of the day at leisure. (B,L)
Sun 13 Sep Perth & Kings Park tour – Embark Sea Princess

This morning, transfer to Kings Park Botanical Gardens for a guided walk to view a wide array of native Western Australian wildflowers. Enjoy morning tea overlooking the Swan River and city. Continue the tour to see the highlights of Perth city seeing landmarks like the WACA Cricket Ground, Town Hall, Perth Mint, Parliament House, Barracks Arch and Elizabeth Quay, an exciting waterfront precinct on the banks of the Swan River. Later, travel to Fremantle to board your home for the next 8 nights, the Sea Princess. (B,D)
Mon 14 Sep Geraldton
Located between the Chapman and Greenough Rivers, Geraldton boasts a superb Mediterranean climate, scenic beauty and pristine beaches. Wander the town to see the ornate Francis Xavier Cathedral, built of local Geraldton stone that took 23 years to complete or for a rare insight into early settlement of agricultural lands, visit the central Greenborough Historical Settlement. Alternatively, you may wish to take an excursion to Kalbarri National Park, known for its spectacular scenery and red rock gorges. (B,L,D)
Tue 15 Sep At Sea
Time to relax and enjoy the shipboard facilities as we cruise to Broome. (B,L,D)
Wed 16 Sep At Sea
You’ll find so many activities onboard your ship to keep you engaged and entertained. There’s something around every corner and luckily you’ll have time to experience it all. (B,L,D)
Thu 17 Sep Broome
Full of colour and natural wonder, Broome is a beach resort and pearling town in the Kimberley region, popular for the iconic 22 kilometre stretch of white sand known as Cable Beach and walking along dinosaur footprints. Situated on a north-south peninsula, Broome has water on both sides of the town. On the eastern shore are the waters of Roebuck Bay, extending from the main jetty at Port Drive to Sandy Point. Town Beach is part of the shoreline and is the site of the famous ‘Staircase of the Moon’ where a receding tide and a rising moon combine to create a stunning natural phenomenon. Roebuck Bay is of international importance for the millions of migrating waders or shorebirds that use it seasonally on migration from their breeding grounds in northern Asia. They feed on the extensive mudflats and roost at high tide on the red sand beaches of the bay. They are seen in their largest numbers in summer but many of the younger birds remain throughout the first and second years of their lives. A mixed black flying fox and little red flying fox colony of around 50,000 megabats lives all year in mangroves next to Broome township’s small Streeter’s Jetty. They chatter and socialise loudly before flying out at dusk each evening. Broome will certainly be a highlight of your trip. (B,L,D)
Fri 18 Sep At Sea
A day at leisure on our ship as we sail southbound. (B,L,D)
Sat 19 Sep Exmouth
Exmouth is a small resort town on Western Australia’s North West Cape and gateway to nearby Ningaloo Marine Park with its coral reefs, colourful fish and migratory whale sharks. Nearly surrounding Exmouth, Cape Range National Park has kangaroos, sheer cliffs and red rocky gorges and on the Cape’s northwest coast, you’ll find Jurabi Coastal Reserve boasting tidal rock pools, beaches and seasonal nesting grounds for marine turtles. (B,L,D)
Sun 20 Sep At Sea
Enjoy the last sea day as we head back to Perth. (B,L,D)
Mon 21 Sep  Perth
Arrive into Fremantle this morning and transfer to your hotel for the next two nights. Enjoy the day at you own pace. Perhaps re-visit the magnificent city views from Kings Park; travel along the Swan River and picturesque foreshore parklands; visit Subiaco with its trendy boutiques and restaurants; or Claremont with its upmarket shopping and famous ‘Millionaire’s Row’. (B)
Tue 22 Sep Pinnacles Day Tour
A memorable day is ahead of you as we journey north to Nilgen Lookout with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. Here you will enjoy a guided walk through remote bush-land on a paved pathway to see a variety of wildflowers. Continue on to the small fishing village of Cervantes and enjoy a fish and chip lunch at the famous Lobster Shack. Later, we tour Mount Lesueur National Park to spot wildflowers, including the rare Black Kangaroo Paw. A visit to the famous Pinnacles Desert in Nambung National Park caps off our day before returning to Perth. (B,L)
Wed 23 Sep Depart Perth
Time at leisure before transferring to the airport for return flight. Perhaps take the opportunity to visit Rottnest Island, a protected nature reserve and home to the quokka, a small wallaby-like marsupial. White sand beaches and secluded coves include the Basin, with its shallow waters ad Thomson Bay, the main hub and ferry port. Late check-out from the hotel has been arranged before departing from the hotel late afternoon.
