Itinerary
Day 1: Hobart
On arrival in Hobart explore the stunning waterfront, Salamanca art galleries and craft shops. Make the most of Hobart’s expansive Derwent Estuary and take to the water on a harbour cruise, kayaking tour or wildlife cruise.
Overnight: Motel 429, Hobart

Day 2: Hobart
Head south from Hobart towards Huonville, stopping in at one or two of the wineries or cider houses on the way. Stop at the Tasmanian Wooden Boat Centre or experience the stunning Huon River on a calm water sailing tour. Take a cave tour at Hastings Caves State reserve and enjoy a relaxing dip in the thermal springs afterwards. Alternatively take a short walk through glacial landscapes to Lake Osborne at Hartz National Park.

Day 3: Hobart - Port Arthur
On the way to Port Arthur drive to the Coal Valley and historic town of Richmond. Before you reach Port Arthur the Tasman Peninsula offers stunning natural wonders such as the Blow Hole, Tasman Arch and the Devil’s Kitchen. In the evening join a thrilling ghost tour at the Port Arthur Historic Site.

Day 4: Port Arthur
Join a guided tour of the Port Arthur Historic Site.  At the site take a cruise out into the harbour to Point Puer and the Isle of the Dead. Visit the McHenry’s Distillery Cellar Door for a gin & whisky tasting.  Take a VIP tour of the spring, distillery and bonds store.

Day 5: Port Arthur - Swansea
Make your way to Orford to the start of the Great Eastern Drive. While in the area check out one of the East Coast’s most impressive beaches Spring Beach. Just before Swansea make sure to stop at Kate’s Berry Farm and grab a treat. Along the way stop for lunch, enjoy local wine and some of Tasmania’s best fresh seafood.

Day 6: Swansea & the East
Enjoy the day exploring the stunning east coast. Drive to the Freycinet Peninsula to Friendly Beaches. Walk up to the Wineglass Bay lookout or drive to Cape Tourville Lighthouse and lookout. Alternatively join Wineglass Bay Cruises from Coles Bay to see iconic Wineglass Bay from a unique perspective.  In the evening take a twilight tour with Bicheno Penguin Tours and see fairy penguins in their natural habitat.
Overnight: Swansea Beach Chalets, Swansea

Day 7: Swansea to Launceston
Choose to take the longer coastal road to Launceston and visit the spectacular Bay of Fires. A stop at the Pyengana Dairy to try their award-winning cheeses is also a must.
Alternatively take the quicker route from the east coast to Launceston via the Heritage Highway.
Overnight: Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston

Day 8: Launceston & the North
See the picturesque Tamar Valley from the top of Brady’s Lookout State Reserve. Take a drive through the Tamar Valley past vineyards, orchards, dairies, truffle woods and olive groves. Stop into any one of the tasting centres or cellar doors and have a chat with the locals. If there’s still time, then head to Beauty Point to Seahorse World and see platypuses and echidnas nearby at Platypus House
Overnight: Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston

Day 9: Launceston - Wynyard
On route to the north west coast stop at Hadspen and wander through Entally House, one of Tasmania’s oldest National Trust properties. Near Westbury take the short walk to beautiful Liffy Falls and view the world-class murals at Sheffield. Taste one of Australia’s best single malt distilled whiskies at Hellyers Road Distillery, Burnie and visit Table Cape for a photo opportunity at Table Cape Tulip Farm (spring-time).
Overnight: The Waterfront Wynyard

Day 10: Wynyard – Stanley
Travel to Stanley via Rocky Cape National Park. In Stanley take the chairlift to the top of The Nut for spectacular views of the coast; step back in time at the elegantly restored Highfield Historic Site; or join a tour to the ancient forest in the Tarkine.
Overnight: Stanley Seaview Inn

Day 11: Stanley - Cradle Mountain
Drive to Cradle Mountain where you can take the opportunity to explore the area on one of the many magical walks. For those with an appetite for adventure join a canyoning tour. Get to view native Tasmanian devils during the day or night at Devils@Cradle.
Overnight: Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village

Day 12: Cradle Mountain - Strahan
Visit the historic mining town Zeehan and walk through the Spray Tunnel, a 100-metre abandoned railway tunnel. If time permits ride the historic West Coast Wilderness Railway in Strahan or Queenstown. In the evening drive to Henty Dunes and watch the sunset at Ocean Beach.
Overnight: Driftwood Strahan Villas, Strahan

Day 13: Strahan & the West
Enjoy a cruise onboard a luxury catamaran on the Gordon River into Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area. When back on dry land take the short walk to Hogarth Falls in Strahan. Enjoy Australia’s longest running stage performance, The Ship that Never Was, held nightly in Strahan.
Overnight: Driftwood Strahan Villas, Strahan

Day 14: Strahan – Hamilton
Reduce your driving time and stay a little longer in this beautiful part of the world with accommodation tonight in Hamilton. On the way stop at the Lake St Clair Visitor Information Centre for a short walk to the lake and visit the Wall in the Wilderness, a 100m long hand carved sculpture on display at Derwent Bridge.
Overnight: Curringa Farm Accommodation, Hamilton

Day 15: Hamilton – Depart Hobart
Head back to Hobart via Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and take a guided tour. Stop at the Museum of Old and New Art – Mona and wander the gallery or take a wine or beer tasting before heading to Hobart Airport.
