Shiga Kogen is Japan’s largest ski resort with over 600 hectares of terrain spread across 19 different ski areas. Shiga Kogen is approximately a 1.5hr bullet train and bus transfer from either of Tokyo’s two airports, Narita Airport and Hanita Airport. Due to its high altitude, Shiga Kogen will receive on average 12 meters of snow each season, making it a great destination for powder seekers.
When visiting Shiga Kogen we recommend staying at the base of Yakebitaiyama ski area. Here you will have ski-in, ski-out access to some of Japan’s incredible terrain. Shiga Kogen is quite traditional when it comes to restaurants and bars. Most restaurants can be found in hotels, with some neighbouring villages having a handful of options.
