There is also the opportunity to make a photo stop at the iconic Beijing 2008 Olympic Centre – the Birds Nest and Water Cube.

Day 4: Beijing  (B, L)
This morning start the day with a visit to the Temple of Heaven then continue to a Pearl Factory to see how these exquisite items are processed into jewellery. After lunch enjoy a traditional rickshaw ride through the ancient Hutong's (streets) of the old city.

Day 6: Xian  (B, L, D)
Enjoy a full day tour to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Army of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Bronze Chariots which remains stunningly well preserved: a vigilant force standing guard over an ancient imperial burial site. You’ll also visit a Ceramics and Pottery Centre en-route to the UNESCO site. Tonight enjoy a different taste of China with a dumpling dinner and colourful Tang Dynasty Show.

Day 7: Xian - Chongqing  (B, L, D)

Day 8: Three Gorges (B, L, D)

Day 9: Three Gorges  (B, L, D)

Sailing into the Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge, the mossy cliffs are hemmed by the banging pathways under the Twelve Peaks. When the ship gets to the famed Shennong Stream, you will change to a small boat and sail deep into the stream. Return to the main ship and continue sailing into the Xiling Gorge.

Day 10: Yichang - Shanghai  (B, L)
An excursion to the Three Gorges Dam site is included this morning before passing through the Five Step lock which lowers the ship down 412 feet, before ending the cruise in Yichang. Transfer to Yichang Airport for a flight to Shanghai where the evening is spent at leisure.

Day 11: Shanghai  (B, L)
Today’s full day tour starts with a visit to the classical Yu Gardens. Built 400 years ago, the gardens have architecture from both Ming and Qing Dynasties. Continue on to the Shanghai Museum with its enormous collections of bronze ware, porcelain, calligraphy, paintings and stone sculptures.  Explore the colonial European past at the Bund and continue to Xintiandi Street, a very well-known boutique area of fashion and tradition. Tonight you have the option to join in an incredible Chinese Acrobatic Show with Dinner (additional cost).
