Day 1: Cairo
Welcome to Egypt. Our local representative will meet and assist you inside immigration and guide you through. Transfer directly to the Pyramids area in Giza where you are reserved for two nights at historic Marriott Mena House for 2 nights in a pyramids view room.
Day 2: Cairo
A day to remember! The ancient capital of Memphis and the enduring monuments of Sakkara will have their secrets revealed by your private Egyptologist guide. Explore the sand strewn temples and tombs before travelling to the incomparable Pyramids of Giza and mysterious Sphinx. The largest and oldest pyramid was built by Pharaoh Khufu over 3800 years ago. Dinner is included this evening at the hotel.
Optional: Attend the spectacular Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids this evening, a perfect way to end an unforgettable day. (B)
Day 3: Cairo - Luxor
This morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Luxor. On arrival transfer to the Sonesta Moon Goddess moored on the banks of the Nile. Lunch is served on board. This afternoon discover the awesome grandeur of the Luxor and Karnak Temples. Return to your cruise boat in time for a traditional belly dancing show followed by an on board dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 4: Luxor - Edfu
Spend an unforgettable morning exploring the Valley of the Kings. (Entrance to 3 tombs plus entrance to the Tomb of Boy King Tutankhamun included). At the entrance see the Colossi of Memnon, this giant statue is named for the Ethiopian King who brought his army to Troy’s defence during the Trojan War before being killed by Achilles. Visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut one of Egypt’s ruling female Pharaoh’s. Return on board, sail along the calm Nile waters to Edfu where there is time to explore the local markets. This evening the Captains Cocktail party (non-alcoholic drinks are included). Overnight at Edfu. (B,L,D)
Day 5: Edfu – Kom Ombo - Aswan
This morning after breakfast set sail for Kom Ombo. Take time to relax on the upper deck or chose a spot to watch the timeless waters of the Nile slip past and be transported to a time gone by. Later this afternoon visit the spectacular Temple of Kom Ombo shared by two Gods Sobek and Haeroris, with insights into the heliocentric solar system, surgical instruments and crocodile mummies this temple is unforgettable. Later this afternoon set sail to Aswan your base for the next two nights. This evening a Galabeya Party is on board, an opportunity to relax and dress in local costume. (You may purchase locally whilst enroute or hire on board). (B,L,D)
Day 6: Aswan
Wake up in Aswan. This morning is free time to either explore this town once a frontier for Egypt or join a tour. This afternoon at 3.30pm sail by felucca around Lord Kitchener’s Island. Return for a local Nubian Show at 7.30pm followed by dinner on board. Overnight in Aswan.
Optional Abu Simbel Tour
Very early this morning transfer to the airport and fly to Abu Simbel. On arrival transfer to the entrance from here walk into this amazing complex to view the magnificent Temples of Ramses II. These celebrate this mighty Pharaoh often regarded as the greatest of all the pharaohs (also known as Ozymandias by the ancient Greeks) and Queen Nefertari a famed Queen and diplomat in her own right. Marvel at the amazing engineering that saved the temples from a watery grave below Lake Nasser. At the conclusion of your tour walk to the exit for your airport transfer and flight to Aswan and return to the Nile Cruise.
Optional Nubian Museum Tour - including Sofitel Old Cataract Hotel visit (private tour)
This morning you will be met at the dock and transferred to the Nubian Museum.
The Nubian Museum is an important museum in Upper Egypt. Discover the incredible history and treasures that Nubia accumulated with over 3000 antiquities contained from the Geological Pharaonic Roman Islamic and Coptic eras. First constructed in the 1960s on the Aswan High Dam it was moved by UNESCO to avoid higher waters to Aswan and is surrounded by natural botanical gardens. Continue to the Sofitel Old Cataract historic hotel. It was this gracious olde worlde hotel originally built in 1899 by Thomas Cook that Agatha Christie was inspired to write “Death on the Nile”. Take time for coffee or tea (own cost) and see the timeless Nile unveil before you. Return to your cruise boat in time for lunch at 1pm.
Day 7: Aswan – Kom Ombo - Edfu
This morning visit the High Dam the Granite Quarries and the Temple of Philae (by local boat). Sail to Kom Ombo with lunch on board and continue sailing to Edfu for an overnight. (B,L,D)
Day 8: Edfu - Luxor
This morning visit the mysterious temple at Edfu the Temple of Horus constructed upon the site of the final battle between the good and just god Horus and his strong Uncle Seth. Cruise to Luxor. (B,L,D)
Day 9: Luxor
Free day. Today you may wish to explore the Luxor markets or relax by the pool overlooking the Nile or make your way to the Sofitel Winter Palace Hotel for a drink (own cost) it was here that archaeologist Howard Carter announced from the stair case that the Tomb of Tutankhamun had been discovered. Lunch and dinner are included today aboard.

Half Day private tour to the Mummification Museum. Learn about the ancient rites of mummification and see on display various animals, pots, implements and jewellery that were buried with each Pharaoh.
Or: Visit the spectacular temples of Seti 1st or Queen Nefertari and the original house where archaeologist Howard Carter was based for his excavations on the West Bank. (There is limited access to these temples pre booking is essential)
Or Half day private tour to the Temples of Dendarah
Hathor the ancient Egyptian goddess of love and joy was what Aphrodite was to the Greeks and Venus to the Romans. It was at Dendarah some 60kms north of Luxor that the Egyptians worshipped Hathor in a temple which is exceptionally well preserved. You’ll walk through a towering stone gate to see incredible columns and hieroglyphics for some of ancient Egypt’s best preserved structures. This afternoon is at leisure either relax on board or take time to stroll through the fascinating streets of Luxor on the West Bank of the Nile.
Day 10: Luxor - Cairo
This morning transfer to the Airport and fly to Cairo. On arrival travel into the city centre to visit Egypt’s Museum where you will view many sparkling treasures and understand more of Egyptian history with your Egyptologist guide. Continue to the famous Cairo Bazaar the heart of trading for centuries and rebuilt by El Khalili in 1511 in Ottoman style complete with massive gates and several perpendicular streets. Time for some local shopping and bartering. Transfer to the centrally located Ritz Carlton city hotel where you are reserved for overnight in a room with a Nile view including breakfast with some time free this afternoon. Option to dine this evening in your hotel or sample one of the local restaurants nearby. (B)
Day 11: Cairo
