Luxury Cape Town Weekend

The Table Bay welcomes you to the best address in Cape Town! One of the top 5-star hotels in Cape Town, the iconic Table Bay stands as a graceful gateway to the abundant wonders of South Africa's Western Cape. Opened in May 1997 by former South African president, Nelson Mandela, the hotel occupies one of the best positions on the historic V&A Waterfront with Table Mountain for a backdrop. From here discover the nearby winelands on a half day tour and make a visit to Robben Island, which for centuries had served as a prison for political prisoners famously including Nelson Mandela. Released in 1990 he became president in 1994 and a year before was awarded the Noble Peace prize along with Frederik Willem de Klerk, commended for “for their work for the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa".

Day 1-4: Cape Town

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to the Table Bay Hotel, your luxurious home for 3 nights. Enjoy the next few days exploring this beautiful city, so much to discover and with some of the best food and wine to be found anywhere. You’ll get to enjoy a half day Winelands tour as well as visit to Robben Island before you have another private transfer back to the airport.

Winelands half day tour
This afternoon tour visits the historic wine region of Stellenbosch, less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town city centre. Set against the backdrop of spectacular mountains, the Stellenbosch vineyards are internationally-recognised for making some of South Africa’s premier wines. Enjoy a tour through this historic town where much of the original Cape-Dutch architecture has been preserved. Visit a Stellenbosch wine estate and enjoy a wine tasting. A second tasting can be arranged time-permitting.

Robben Island

From the 17th to the 20th centuries, Robben Island served as a place of banishment, isolation and imprisonment. Today it is a World Heritage Site and museum, a poignant reminder to the newly democratic South Africa of the price paid for freedom. The standard tour to Robben Island is 3.5 hours long, including the two half-hour ferry rides. Ferries depart at various times, weather permitting, from the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Hot hint: Why not stay a few extra days in the winelands in beautiful Franschhoek after your winelands tour? Ask us for details.
