Itinerary
Day 1: Cuzco – Pisac - Lamay
An early departure from Cuzco brings you to the Inca heartland of the Sacred Valley. In the morning you have the option to visit the famous Pisac market or take a moderate hike in the valley. After a traditional lunch visit the archeological complex at Pisac. Once the sun sets behind the valley peaks you’ll head to your comfortable lodge for the night in Lamay.

Day 2: Lares Valley
Explore the Lares Valley in the morning visiting the archeological site of Ancasmarca. In the afternoon you can choose to visit a traditional weaver’s village and drive or hike to the remote village of Huacahuasi. Here your lodge for the night is run as a joint venture with the local community providing great comfort at 3,800m with private bathrooms and hot tub for each room.

Day 3: Sacred Valley
You can choose not to hike at all to visit a farmers market and a museum or choose from an easy to moderate hike for around 3 hours, either way meeting up for lunch near the Urubamba River. Then exploring the ancient town of Ollantaytambo. There’s a sightseeing and mountain bike option that ends with trying beer at an artisan brewery. You might go for the more challenging option of the hike that will take most of the day, then you’ll meet up with other members of the group at the lodge in the late afternoon. Choices choices!

Day 4: Ollantaytambo
Ollantaytambo is the oldest living city in Latin America and for the Incas was one of the most important ceremonial centres. This morning a guide will tour you around the archaeological site and explain its architecture and significance. This sets the scene well for your train journey from the Sacred Valley to the town of Aguas Calientes below the famous Machu Picchu and your hotel for the night.

Day 5: Machu Picchu
At dawn you’ll journey up by bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the magnificent Inca citadel that has beguiled tourists, historians and adventurers for decades. In the afternoon return to Cuzco by train where this tour ends.
