Day 1: Entebbe
The approach to Entebbe airport over the string of tiny islets scattered through the iridescent waters of Lake Victoria is breathtakingly spectacular. Meet your guide at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
(Bed and Breakfast)
Day 2: Entebbe - Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast drive to Ziwa Rhino and Wildlife Ranch, home of a rhinoceros re-introduction project. Presently the sanctuary is home to 38 southern white rhinos which we observe on a guided walk during a part of the morning. We drive further west to Murchison National Park with stops for game viewing. Murchison falls is one of the most visited parks of Uganda. The main attractions are the birds and animals, the breath taking waterfalls and the River Nile as it flows on its journey to the Mediterranean Sea.
Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park
After an early morning breakfast, enjoy a spectacular game viewing on the Northern bank of the Nile, with chances of seeing giraffes, elephants, lions, hartebeest and different species of birds. Game drive across the savannah, along Lake Albert Delta, with an abundant wildlife as you move slowly as the sun rises. This is the heart of Africa: Uganda. The afternoon will be spent on an extensive boat exploration on the Nile river, upstream towards the Falls. Launch trip on the Nile to the bottom of the falls for spectacular view as the mighty river is forced up a seven meter gap before plunging to depth below. As you travel up the Nile, look at the enormous Nile crocodile basking on the sand banks or gliding silently up the water. Animals to view here include elephants, lions, giraffes and a variety of antelopes. Bird life is prolific and chance of seeing the rare shoebill stork is high.
Day 4: Murchison Falls - Kibale National Park
You will wake up at your own time and take breakfast before leaving for Kibale forest park. The journey is long but worthwhile as you will be able to see Uganda’s beautiful countryside, several landmarks and observe the locals going about with their lives.
Day 5: Kibale National Park - Queen Elizabeth National Park
Early in the morning the driver will take you to the Kibale national park offices for the briefing on chimpanzee tracking. The chances of spotting them is very high and there are 4 communities that are habituated. Chimps love to stay on top of trees. They are also more vocal hence allowing them to be located from far away.
Day 6: Northern Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will wake up very early to go for a morning game drive at the Kasenyi sector. It allows visitors to spot nocturnal animals retreating back to their dens and also the early risers. Expect to spot leopards, hippos, lions, buffaloes, resident and migratory birds. Return to have lunch and a rest at your lodge. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Kazinga Channel for a launch cruise. The Kazinga Channel is a collection point for most of the parks animals and birds. You will be very impressed with the sheer number of game found drinking and grazing along the banks.
Day 7: Queen Elizabeth National Park - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Drive to Bwindi National Park. It is home to the endangered African Mountain Gorillas, along with a rich diversity of wild animals, insects and plants. Inhabitants include various other primate species, such as the blue and red-tailed monkeys. Overnight near the park.
Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
As the first light of dawn breaks through the curtain of mist clinging to the summits of the evergreen hills, we make our way into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Tracking the gorillas through the unique vegetation can take several hours of challenging walking in wet and muddy conditions. To visit a gorilla, the trek will have been worth the hardship. Overnight near the park.
Day 9: Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest - Lake Mburo National Park
The countryside offers us an unbelievable palette of green, from the blue-green of the eucalyptus trees which divide this tapestry into a multitude of tiny pieces, and the deep green of the cypress trees that line the slopes, to the light green of the paddy fields at the bottom of the sheltered valleys. Several stops with lunch en route. Lake Mburo National Park is a small park, excellent for birding, antelope and other grazers, one of the only places to easily see Impala and zebra in Uganda. Game drives offer particularly picturesque game viewing with the Parks mixture of savannah, acacia woodlands, grassy valleys, rocky outcrops, swamps, lakes and rolling hills. Herds of impala (found nowhere else in Uganda), buffalo and zebra, plus waterbuck and eland are amongst the variety of wildlife to be seen. Birders will enjoy the Parks 310 recorded water and dry land species.
Day 10: Lake Mburo National Park - Entebbe
Early morning game drive before driving back to Entebbe, this takes approximately 5 hours – road. Lunch at Equator. Transfer to Entebbe International airport to connect with your departure flight.
