A meandering drive through Tuscany is the way to experience Italy at its best: shop at the local markets, wander through the villages, and dine on the rustic foods that the area is famous for. Base yourself at a villa for seven nights and head out and about on day trips.
One of Tuscany’s most popular towns, famous for its towers, its nickname is the Manhattan of Tuscany. There were originally 72 towers surrounding the town (now only 14 remain). Walk the old city wall and enjoy the great views across the countryside.
A wonderful walled medieval city. In July it hosts a summer concert series over 10 days in the picturesque Piazza Napoleone (recent artists include Pink, Simply Red, Eric Clapton). The concerts are intimate and the setting sublime.
Surrounded by hills entirely covered by trees and vineyards. It is the centre of the famous Chianti wine producing area and is home to a wonderful wine library with a museum on the history of winemaking (where you can sample wine from the Chianti region).
Located high on top of a hill is this medieval town. It is full of beautiful palaces, ancient churches and charming squares. it is also famous for producing two excellent wines, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Rosso di Montepulciano.
