OUR FAVOURITE PLACES TO EXPLORE IN VIETNAM

Ho Chi Minh City

The largest city in Vietnam & the commercial heart of the country, traffic is intense and never ending. It’s a mix of modern skyscrapers and colonial architecture. Chinese pagodas are dotted throughout, as are open green spaces. Visit an array of markets for anything your heart desires, museums for history lessons and art galleries to see amazing creativity. Dine on small stools at street food pop ups, or head high for a drink in the skyline.

Hoi An

A quaint town with French and Chinese influences, streets are adorned with lanterns and a sight to behold come nightfall. It is the place to have clothes made with multiple tailors. Cycle to the nearby beaches or the surrounding flat countryside during the day, checking out well organised vege patches and then spend some time wondering the nightly markets, arrive hungry as food carts are plentiful!

Hanoi

The capital of Vietnam once again blends old and new. It is modern and vibrant yet dotted with ancient monuments, pagodas, colonial architecture and historical sites. Visit the Old Quarter, home to over 50 streets selling a range of wares, the Hanoi Citadel to explore bunkers from decades prior, Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and stroll around discovering temples and former prisons. Learn why buildings are tall and skinny and enjoy the street food as you explore.

Halong Bay

North of Hanoi is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay. It covers around 2000 square kilometres and the water is dotted with more than 1600 limestone pillars and rock formations. Best explored by boat and to incorporate at least one night on your chosen vessel. Traditional style junk boats through to luxury sailing boats are all on offer. Wake up in the morning and participate in Tai Chi on the upper deck.
