Travelling to Queensland for a family holiday is an exciting adventure for all. Check out these great local spots which will give you more bang for your buck and keep the littlies (or not so littlies!) entertained for hours.

Movie World / SeaWorld / Wet'n'Wild
There’s a myriad of theme parks you can visit. However,  the best value is via a 3 Park Superpass to the Village Roadshow theme parks.  Time your visit with Movie World’s White Christmas – filled with millions of fairy lights, Warner Bros characters, Christmas parades and pure awesomeness. If you drive, be sure to park on the field near the exit; this way you won’t get stuck in the traffic at the end of the day. For those tall enough try out the Superman ride to be in for a thrilling surprise! All three parks have loads of rides, food options, bathrooms, reasonably priced merchandise and shows.
HOT tip: get in early to all three parks as it tends to be quieter closer to opening time.

Beaches

You can’t visit SE Queensland without hitting the delightful mix of beaches along the coast, from gorgeous white sand islands, to surfing spots and calm mudflats where major river mouths meet the sea. Our pick for the best beach along the coast is Coolangatta, or “Cooly” as the locals call it. It’s everything you'd expect from the region - great surf, white sand, surfers absolutely EVERYWHERE, funky cafes and surf shops, resorts close to the beach and a great atmosphere overall!
HOT tip: Factor in a stop to Raw Energy Café which has a variety of tasty, well priced menu options.

Riverfire
Time your visit to SE Queensland to coincide with the Brisbane Festival - a month-long festival filled with light shows and performing arts with a grand finale of Sunsuper Riverfire, which is truly a sight to see over the 20-minute-long firework show. Get in early to secure a spot: South Bank and Kangaroo Point are excellent viewing spots. A great way to get to your location along the river is to travel via CityCat ferry.
HOT tip: If you have time, hop on the Wheel of Brisbane while you’re there for stunning views.

Man-made lagoons
Brisbane’s gorgeous resort-style man-made lagoons, similar to what you’d get at a 5 star resort, are a must-see. South Bank is located along the Brisbane River in the inner city and features white sandy tropical-ness, markets on Fridays/Saturdays as well trendy cafes and eateries.
HOT tip: Settlement Cove Redcliffe Lagoon is another great spot overlooking Moreton Bay on the beautiful Redcliffe Peninsula with its very unique tropical layout.

Rolin Farms Strawberry Picking
For something fun and different, head north of Brisbane towards the Sunny Coast to Rolin Farms in Elimbah between October and November. Such beautiful and oh-so-tasty strawberries and at AUD$10/kilo it’s definitely worth the trip plus the kids will have a blast picking them too!
HOT tip: Try the home-made ice cream on the way out – it’s scrumptious!
