Day 1: Saturday Darwin
Make your own way to Darwin and check in to Hilton Darwin (Platinum Service: SYCITY Darwin) for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Sunday Darwin to Kakadu National Park
Step aboard your coach and travel along the Arnhem Highway, passing major river systems and wetland regions, into Kakadu National Park. Located 257 kilometres east of Darwin, the National Park covers 20,000 square kilometres of landscape varying from rocky escarpment that is home to historic Aboriginal rock art dating back thousands of years, to the floodplains that are abundant with wildlife. Visit Warradjan Cultural Centre to view the informative displays depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people in Kakadu. Join your local guide on a cruise of Yellow Water Billabong Cruise. Search for saltwater crocodiles and the colourful range of birdlife for which this region is renowned. After lunch, stop at Nourlangie, where your driver guide will lead you on a walk to view the rock art galleries. (B, L)

Day 3: Monday Kakadu National Park to Darwin
This morning you’ll head off with your driver guide to explore the World Heritage Area of Ubirr, where you’ll climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries, believed to be 20,000 years old, to the lookout for the view over the surrounding wetlands. Join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River. An Aboriginal guide will provide an insight into their culture, including local mythology, the river’s abundant food chain, as well as bush survival skills. With special permission of the local people, you are able to go ashore in Arnhem Land. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre before returning to Hilton Darwin. (L)

Platinum Service

This morning travel by 4WD vehicle into Arnhem Land and the Mikini Valley. The spectacular scenery includes sandstone outcrops, escarpments, forests, floodplains and billabongs. You’ll visit places inaccessible to most, including ancient rock art sites. Learn about traditional land ownership, bush skills, hunting, food gathering and bush tucker preparation. Most tours are accompanied by an Aboriginal guide. Return to SKYCITY Darwin this evening. (L)

Day 4: Tuesday Darwin
Spend today discovering all that Darwin has to offer. Chairs and tables spill out of street-side restaurants and bars, innovative museums celebrate the city’s past and galleries showcase the region’s rich Indigenous art. (B)

Day 5: Wednesday The Ghan Expedition, Katherine
Your journey aboard The Ghan Expedition begins. After a light lunch in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant, arrive in famous Top End township of Katherine. Here you have a choice of an afternoon filled with Off Train Excursions that take in the natural beauty of the Gorge, as well as its cultural and historical significance for Indigenous and early settlers. Back on board in the early evening and there is plenty of opportunity to share your experiences with fellow guests before, during and after a sumptuous dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Thursday The Ghan Expedition, Alice Springs
This morning, wake to the spectacular Red Centre. A beautiful breakfast prepares you for a full day of Off Train Excursions that include lunch in Alice Springs. You’ll return to the train for a quick freshen up, before dining under a million stars of the Outback. Returning to the train, the Lounges are open until late so you can share your journey highlights so far, or quietly relax before retiring. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Friday The Ghan Expedition, Coober Pedy
Breakfast is served as we arrive into Manguri where you disembark and travel by air-conditioned coach to enjoy a full day of touring in and around the truly unique, underground opal mining township of Coober Pedy. Dinner is served back on the train where you can enjoy a nightcap as we journey through the night. (B, L, D)

Day 8:
Saturday The Ghan Expedition, Adelaide

Wake up to the ancient and majestic Flinders Ranges. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as you prepare for your arrival into Adelaide. Make your way to Hilton Adelaide (Platinum Service: Crowne Plaza Adelaide), your base for the next three nights. (B)

Day 9: Sunday Barossa Valley
Travel in a small coach to South Australia’s premium wine region, the Barossa Valley and enjoy a food and wine journey. The first stop is TeAro Estate for wine tasting and then onto Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop to sample her product range, an absolute must. Continue on to Angaston for a delicious two course lunch and wine tasting at Lambert Estate. Enjoy the views over the Barossa Valley at Mengler Hill before travelling to Pindarie. A multi-tourism award winning cellar door, a great end to your Barossa Valley experience. Reflect on the day as you journey back to Adelaide. (B, L)
Day 10: Monday Adelaide
Today is free to explore the beautiful city of Adelaide, there are a number of major attractions within walking distance. Stroll along the River Torrens and North Terrace, or catch the tram to Glenelg and explore this popular beachside suburb. (B)

Day 11: Tuesday Kangaroo Island
There’s an early morning pick up from your hotel for a scenic coach journey to Cape Jervis taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula. On arrival, board the ferry for the 45 minute crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island where you will be met by your local guide. First stop, Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery where you will learn about the history of the oil distillery before enjoying lunch at Vivonne Bay.  Visit Seal Bay Conservation Park where you can walk amongst Australian sea lions with a National Park Ranger. Witness the fascinating In-flight Birds of Prey Display at Raptor Domain before getting up close and personal with koalas, see penguins swim and play, hand feed kangaroos and wallabies, learn about endangered species and interact with reptiles at Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. Platinum Service

Travel by coach to Cape Jervis to join the ferry for the crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island where you will be met by your local guide. Tour through several Island habitats and see wildlife in its natural environment. Listen to the distinct sounds of the native birdlife as they chorus from the tall eucalyptus trees. As you travel the Island, keep an eye out for echidnas, wallabies, reptiles and wildflowers. At the spectacular Seal Bay Conservation Park, you will walk among the sea lions as they bask on the beach or among the sand dunes. With your guide you are able to stand at a safe distance to these wonderful endangered creatures. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch before taking a bushwalk. This afternoon you will explore the Island’s interior and the beaches of the north coast. (B, L, D)

Day 12: Wednesday Kangaroo Island

Visit Clifford’s Honey Farm to enjoy an informative talk by the beekeeper followed by tastings and an opportunity to sample homemade honey ice cream. Next, travel to Hanson Bay Visitor Centre for lunch and the chance to look for koalas nestled up in the eucalypts along with an abundance of native birdlife. From here, travel to the western most part of the Island, Flinders Chase National Park to witness stunning coastlines and walk around Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch before transferring back to Penneshaw in time for the return ferry to the mainland and coach transfer to Hilton Adelaide. Platinum Service

Discover stunning Flinders Chase National Park with a walk through the park in search of kangaroos, wallabies and a variety of birdlife. See at close range long-nosed fur seals at Cape due Couedic and discover the incredible formation, Remarkable Rocks. These large granite boulders balance dramatically on the cliff edge, which plunges 75 metres into the turbulent Southern Ocean below. At Admirals Arch see where the powerful forces of nature have cut through the headland to create this beautiful natural geological formation. Enjoy lunch in a secluded bush setting. Enter the Kelly Hill Conservation Park to see kangaroos and other native wildlife. As your tour concludes, transfer back to Penneshaw in time for the return ferry to the mainland and coach transfer to Crowne Plaza Adelaide. (B, L)

Day 13: Thursday Adelaide
Your adventure comes to an end this morning. (B)
