The island has some of the South Pacific’s best snorkelling, long hot sun-filled days, super friendly locals, and absolutely gorgeous beaches for all your relaxation needs. However, you can no longer afford to be too relaxed about actually booking your Rarotonga holiday… And here’s why… Hotels Are Already Filling Fast Virgin Australia have just announced a new direct service from Christchurch to Rarotonga! And Jetstar are now joining Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia with flights to Rarotonga from Auckland. While this is great news for flight prices, it also means there’s an extra 25,000 people looking for rooms on the already under-accommodated island paradise. We’re already seeing resorts book out much earlier than usual, particularly over Easter and the school holidays. If you were waiting until the New Year, you may find it’s going to be too late to book in your favourite resort. Quite simply, get in quick before you miss out! Beware Of Flight Times Unfortunately almost all flights to Rarotonga arrive at some unspeakable hour in the middle of the night. If you haven’t got your accommodation booked correctly, it can mean having to wait as late as 2.00pm the next day before you can get into your room! Certainly not a good way to start to your holiday. Why Late Check Outs Are Great Similarly, most departing flights from Rarotonga leave late at night. Having the full day in the sun is great, but if you find yourself having to check out early, you won’t be able to have that refreshing shower or blissful mid-afternoon siesta on the bure hammock. HOT Tip: Jetstar and Virgin Australia flights will always require late check ins and late check outs, but Air New Zealand’s vary depending on the season. Watch Out For The Dateline It’s rather embarrassing when you land in New Zealand and realise you’ve forgotten about crossing the dateline, meaning that your connecting flight left, as scheduled… yesterday! It can also be rather expensive. But Fear Not That’s what we’re here for! Your House of Travel consultant will be all over these potentially holiday ruining pitfalls (and others), so you can sit back, relax, and dream about your upcoming holiday with peace of mind. > House of Travel has managed to block some rooms during peak times, but they’re going quick.
