Vegas. Sin City. It's where dreams come true, bucket lists get completed and you can see most of the world's great monuments all on one street.
There's no place quite like it.
Las Vegas, Nevada, isn't just for James Bond, the cast of 'The Hangover' and any other stereotype you can think of. Anyone can visit this dream-like city (albeit one of those more odd dreams where you're not sure why or how certain things happened), and at any age.
No matter where you are in life, there's likely something for you. Read on and we'll prove it!
Vegas for the youngsters (under 21 years)
Hoping to check out this fast-growing neon metropolis with your kids in tow? There is plenty to see and do that will keep them just as entertained as you.
For example, why not go see a kids show? The many different theatrical works of Vegas are partly what it's famous for, and this includes children. Tournament of Kings is one of our favourites, taking place in a 900-seat stadium. As you and your family gorge on a three-course banquet (with your hands!), knights will parade around, clashing in epic battles and telling the story of King Arthur.
Don't leave without also popping up the High Roller. This is one of the ultimate ways to get a view of the cityscape, as the tallest observation wheel on the planet (167 metres in diameter, if you're counting).
Lastly, the Discovery Children's Museum is where they can have fun and learn something new as well. There are numerous exhibits on display here, covering many different aspects of science, engineering and other cool topics. The Summit is particularly awesome, standing at 21 metres tall and interactively teaching visitors about how science can be applied practically, such as through air pressure, electricity and even in space.
Vegas for the big kids (over 21)
As for children aged 21 and over, you know you're in for a great time as soon as you see The Strip with your own eyes.
We recommend booking a seat at one of the dazzling shows for adults, which can be found at most of the major resorts, hotels and casinos. Every genre is covered here, from circus acrobatics through magic and right to song, dance and history.
Jersey Boys is an absolute hit, recreating the story of the famous band in a bright, musical experience. Penn and Teller are always a crowd-pleaser, too - showcasing spectacular magic and illusion acts, then revealing the secrets afterward (spoiler alert: Even with the secrets revealed, you'll still be baffled). That's not to mention any of the many different performances by Cirque de Soleil, of which you could see acrobatics performed in water tanks, a gorgeous coming-of-age story featuring martial arts madness, and even an erotic tale that tries to show how beautiful the human body is.
Oh, and you simply can't visit Sin City without trying a few games at one of the famous casinos. Gaming is a multi-million dollar industry here, and The Strip features some of the world's most glamorous, intricate and, yes, sometimes cliche resorts you'll ever see in your life.
If you have the time, try to get outside of the city and see a little nature, too. The world-famous Grand Canyon is barely 480 kilometres from Vegas, meaning you're right on the doorstep of one of the world's most famous natural landmarks, taking a day trip is a must! Red Rock Canyon is another gem and only about 30 kilometres outside Las Vegas, so you can easily hire a car for the day and head here for some unique photographic opportunities and excellent walking trails.
