Things likely come to a screeching halt when you throw in a couple of kids to the picture, but the addition of your little ones to your Phuket trip needn't put a damper on your dream. With soft, sandy beaches, tranquil and serene water and a generous sprinkling of family-friendly adventure activities, Phuket may actually be the ideal destination for your next kid-friendly holiday. The resorts themselves are fantastic for families, with amazing kids clubs, sprawling lagoon style pools and shops selling all types of toys and floaters for the kid to use in the pools. So there’s plenty to do just relaxing at the resort or taking advantage of the vast stretches of beach, where you can have fun kicking a ball around and building sandcastles. Here are some more activities you can check out when you and the family are in Phuket: Splash Jungle Water Park Phuket gets hot, and kids love water parks. It seems like the most natural thing in the world to have a water park in Phuket, and Splash Jungle delivers an experience that is truly enjoyable for both the young and young at heart. Take your young kids to the aqua-play pool or experience the rush of the six-level wave pool. There's also a 335 metre long 'lazy river' that is perfect for simply floating along and enjoying the gentle lull of the water, and a spring pool where you can indulge in hydrotherapy. The concept of the park reflects seven inspiring places around the world, so it's the perfect place to squeeze in a bit of a history and geography lesson while the kids play. Phuket Aquarium Let the water theme continue at Phuket Aquarium, which attracts around 30,000 visitors a year after being established in 1983. If you're visiting at the weekend, be sure to watch the live shark feeding shows that happen between 11:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. There are more than 30 tanks of fresh- and saltwater creatures here, including razorfish, stonefish, eels, crabs and more. The piece de resistance is the large tunnel that runs throughout the aquarium's centre, where you can walk under swimming rays, wrasse, sharks and other aquatic life. Exhibits are labelled with interesting facts about the creatures they contain, in both Thai and English, meaning you and your kids will come away with some fun new facts to accompany your photos of the magnificent fish. Phuket Butterfly Garden and Insect World This sanctuary was the first of its kind in Thailand, and is not only a place for visitors to admire a plethora of beautiful butterflies and insects, but also a research centre. All of the species at the park are bred there, with endangered and rare breeds given a safe place to flourish. Head to the butterfly garden where you can walk amongst hundreds of freely flying butterflies, providing plenty of photo opportunities for you and your family. The live insect section boasts giant Madagascar cockroaches (yes, cockroaches - squeamish guests may wish to skip this one!), giant millipedes, crickets and centipedes. Rollerball Set just back from Patong Beach, this zorbing experience is one the whole family can enjoy - if you dare. Hop into a giant plastic sphere (which can fit two people, so you can accompany your child if you like) and float in the water contained in the ball as you roll down hills in a thrilling - yet safe - experience. The all-weather activity covers 190 metres of sheer fun, with ages from 6 years to 60 able to enjoy the experience of rollerballing. Remember the experience forever by hiring a waterproof camera and capturing the moment to share with your friends back home.
