Actively Relaxing on a South Pacific Cruise

story by: Mike Williams

Sipping a piña colada by the pool, getting treated to a full body massage before nonchalantly wining and dining the evening away, some people like to do as little as possible when relaxing on a cruise. However, for those who like to enjoy a more active style of relaxing, then a cruise has an energizing profusion of activities to keep you entertained. In fact, there are probably even more options for those who love ‘active relaxing’ than there are on a resort holiday.

From rock-climbing, trivia contests, pool games and movies, to spa treatments and fitness classes, cruise lines schedule so many activities that a day at sea can almost be as exhausting as a full day of sightseeing! There’s always plenty on in the evening too. Evening entertainment includes live bands in lounges, Broadway-style shows, piano bars, outdoor movies on the top deck and plenty more. There is certainly no chance of ever being bored on a cruise ship.

Cruising is the perfect option for family travel, thanks to the range of children-friendly activities and amenities on-board. Kids are well catered for, leaving the parents free to lie by the pool, workout in the gym or partake in any number of relaxing opportunities on board. Family-oriented ships have impressive facilities that often include multiple play areas for the youngest cruisers, kiddie pools, waterslides, kids-only deck space through to teen hangouts and discos.

Of course, on shore excursions present a smorgasbord of exciting activities to stretch the legs. Cruising the South Pacific you can choose from water-based snorkelling, kayaking, swimming and scuba diving to trekking and nature walks. You could go surfing in Samoa, diving in Fiji, snorkelling in Hawai’i or fishing in Niue. The options are endless.

Whether you’re into adventure sports, up for a bit of friendly competition, looking for a party or just want to stretch the legs after a day of chilling out, a cruise can accommodate.
