From mountains to beaches and plenty of wonderful restaurants, you certainly can't go wrong! Here's how you can spend three days in Sydney, getting a taste for a variety of its charms. Day one Arrive in Sydney and take a scenic transfer via sea plane to the beautiful Palm Beach, one of Sydney's northern beaches. You'll get gorgeous views spanning the city, beaches, cliffs and ocean. Considering Sydney's sunny reputation, you'll likely get to witness twinkling waters beneath a cloudless sky. Make sure you stop off for lunch at Jonah's Restaurant, where you can eat delicious gourmet fare all the while looking out over the sea from a gorgeous elevated vantage point. The menu is seasonal, but expect delicious contemporary Australian cuisine with the likes of Sydney Rock Oysters and Tasmanian Huon Salmon on the menu. With sweet treats like flamed banana and rum ice cream gateaux and chocolate and passionfruit wagon wheels, you're going want to leave a little room for dessert, too. After you've had your fill, head for a leisurely stroll along Palm Beach, which you might recognise as the filming location for Aussie drama Home and Away. You can walk to Barrenyjoy Head and its historic lighthouse and keepers' cottages at the northern end of the beach, or watch the surfers tackle the challenging waves here. Or, take a walk to the south end of the beach, where there's a 35m ocean pool to splash around in. Day two You've explored the beach - now it's time to check out the famous hinterland. The Blue Mountains are around two hours' drive from central Sydney and they're an incredible sight to see. The blue haze is the evaporation from the gum trees, creating a stunning backdrop to this amazing destination. This is a place perfect for bush walks and exploring nature, with everything from dramatic cliffs and peaks to waterfalls and diverse plant life. Make sure you check out the renowned Three Sisters rock formation and explore the Katoomba township where you can enjoy the Heritage and Art Walk. Opt for a guided tour of all the highlights with AAT Kings, or explore the region at your own pace. Later on, head back to Sydney to experience the spectacular Handa Opera, which takes place on the Sydney Harbour water's edge and within the botanical gardens. The Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge will serve as your backdrop for this evening under the stars, as the harbour-front site is transformed into a dynamic moving set within an intimate environment in which you're treated to soaring operatic numbers and brilliant costumes. Day three On your final day in Sydney it's time to put your walking shoes on and explore the shore like a local either with an expert tour guide from My Walking Detour or on your own. Take a ferry to Rose Bay, on the way soaking in the gorgeous harbour views and passing beautiful bays and beaches. Then spend a couple of hours walking towards Nielsen Park – both along the local streets and then along the shore – and on arrival you can enjoy a seaside lunch at the quaint café, overlooking the gorgeous bay. From here, catch a bus back to the city centre which is only around 9km away. When you arrive back in the city, rest your feet for a few minutes by getting a coffee and cake along Oxford Street. Then, shop ‘til you drop along this fashionable road, home to a host of local and international fashion boutiques, plus a number of jewellery, homeware, book and movie stores before making your way to the airport and heading home. If you have more time, stop off at Pitt, Castlereagh and King Streets, too. You can fit a lot into an ultimate weekend in Sydney and cover plenty of what the gorgeous city has to offer - just remember, you'll probably love it so much you'll want to return in the not too distant future!
