The Many Wonders of British Columbia

story by: Inspire Magazine

Lying between the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, British Columbia is Canada’s most western province. It has everything you could possible want with spectacular mountain scenery, unique wildlife and the twinkling lights of a city skyline.

VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE IN VANCOUVER
This cosmopolitan city boasts incredible scenery, a great food scene, shopping and nightlife all in close proximity to nature’s door. Be sure to visit Stanley Park, Vancouver’s massive urban park and home to the Vancouver Aquarium. On the north shore of Vancouver, visit Capilano Suspension Bridge and brave the Cliffwalk, then check out another of the city’s gems - Grouse Mountain. Head up the mountain by cable car and be treated to beautiful panoramic views. Also make time for a trip to Granville Island, famous for its artistic flair and abundance of fresh market food and fun foodie tours. Mmm!

WHIZ DOWN THE MOUNTAINS IN WHISTLER
If you’re a lover of the outdoors, Whistler is a must! Known for the skiing in winter, this charming alpine village is bustling with outdoor adventure activities and wildlife viewing in the summer as well. A must is to venture up the mountain for a ride on the Peak2Peak gondola - a breathtaking 4.4 kilometre ride between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.

VICTORIA AND VANCOUVER ISLAND
Located on the south end of Vancouver Island, Victoria is utterly charming. Take the ferry from Vancouver or try the floatplane for a bird’s eye view. Victoria is certainly pleasing to the eye with its historic architecture, great shops, eateries, museums and the Butchart Gardens, with wonderful floral displays and themed areas. Victoria is also a great place to spot orca whales from.

WILD FOR WILDLIFE
Of course, one of the highlights of travelling to British Columbia is its extraordinary wildlife. Catch a glimpse of orcas and dolphins gliding through the ocean, or get up close and personal on a bearwatching tour in one of the hot spots throughout the province. Keep your eyes peeled for black bears, grizzly bears and the rare Kermode (Spirit) bear!
