Make a Splash in Fiji

story by: House of Travel

You can't beat Fiji for fun in the sun and in the water, so why not make it the destination for your next holiday? Perfect for families, even those with young kids, couples and solo travellers alike, this Pacific paradise won't disappoint.

Here are a few of the country's must-visit sights for water babies of all ages.

Diving in the Mamanuca Islands
The waters surrounding the magical Mamanuca Islands are beautiful and perfect for those old enough to dive! From beautiful gardens of colourful coral to shipwrecks and thriving reefs, there are all sorts of underwater sights to be discovered. You can catch a ferry to the Mamanuca Islands from Nadi.

Snorkelling at South Sea Island
South Sea Island is a tiny little speck of land located just a short ferry ride away from Port Denarau, near Nadi.

It's very small but there are facilities to keep you comfortable during the day, and the clear waters surrounding the sand are simply beautiful. Get up close and personal with an array of fish of all colours, shapes and sizes with a snorkel, or kayak around the island and see what you can spot from the surface.

Spot the dolphins at Vanua Levu
Make your way to the island of Vanua Levu a short flight from Nadi, full of adventurous things to see and do.

Take a dolphin watching trip to Natewa Bay for your best shot at spotting these playful marine dwellers splashing around in the water. See if you can scout out both spinner and bottle-nose varieties. While you're at it, head into the water for snorkelling and diving too.

One thing's for sure - you'll never run out of things to do in the water in Fiji!

The surrounding landscape is also incredibly impressive, built up over time from deposits of ash and other debris. Drawing comparisons to the landscape of the moon, it has to be seen to be believed.

The island is easy to get to as well. Tanna is just a 35-minute flight from the capital Port Vila. The mountain is easily accessible from the airport, with a number of tours and transfers available. It won't be long before you're gazing at the majestic Mount Yasur!
