Life in the Fast Lane in L.A.

story by: House of Travel

If you are travelling the USA, Los Angeles is a destination you just can't leave off your itinerary.

Famous for its Hollywood sign, Walk of Fame, TCL Chinese Theatre and the rich and famous, this city's twinkling lights have dazzled countless souls over the years - and it's time you got in on the action.

First of all, even though it might be a little cliché, you've got to tick off those must-do activities. They include finding your favourite celebrities on the Walk of Fame, shopping on Rodeo Drive (even if it's only the window variety!) and heading to Santa Monica Beach to explore the historic pier and ride the carousel and Ferris wheel. If theme parks are your thing, you can head to Universal Studios or venture a little further afield to Disneyland.

Then you can spend the rest of your time in L.A discovering those hidden gems.

Not far from central Hollywood is Runyon Canyon Park, a hiking area that provides wonderful views of the city. Best of all? It's a hot spot for celeb sightings, where many famous actors, actresses and singers walk their dogs or take a jog along the scenic tracks.

If you're a film and television aficionado, you'll want to visit the Hollywood Museum. This is home to the world's most extensive collection of film memorabilia, with props, costumes and other treasures. See Marilyn Monroe's million-dollar honeymoon dress, make-up bag and more. Or you might like to check out Elvis' bathrobe! Exciting exhibits are always coming and going.

Those who enjoy a spot of people-watching will love the Grand Central Market, where there are many food stalls serving fruits, veggies and more. More than just a market, this is a social hub, so it's great for anyone wanting an authentic taste of L.A life.

Still got time? Check out the ever-vibrant Sunset Strip. With an illustrious rock'n'roll history this neighbourhood is now full of luxurious hotels, star-studded live music venues such as the Viper Room and Whisky A Go-Go and fantastic eateries.

Our final tip? If you love pop culture and celebrity sightings, time your visit to L.A with the awards season and catch the red carpet for events such as the Golden Globes and Academy Awards.
