Canada: Highlights of The Rockies

story by: Mike Williams

National Parks and Icefields are all part of what is known as the Rockies region. Not just scenery and wildlife, golf courses in the summer and ski fields in the winter, will leave you with lasting memories. Jasper provides a peaceful quaint village setting. Explore the outdoors with an abundance of wildlife close to the town and hiking trails through Jasper National Park. From Jasper travel through the Icefields Parkway that stretches to Banff past a chain of massive glaciers and waterfalls. Lake Louise is the most photographed spot in the Rockies. Then to Banff, one of Canada’s top alpine resort towns, with award winning restaurants, unique shops, hot mineral springs as well an abundance of scenic wonders all within an alpine village setting.
  • LAKE LOUISE
Hire a canoe in summer months and spend a few hours on the lake or take a walk along the lake’s northern shores to fully appreciate this “Jewel of the Rockies”.
  • BANFF GONDOLA
For the most spectacular views and photo opportunities in Banff National Park, the Banff Gondola will take you to the top of Sulphur Mountain on a 7 minute ride. The views of the surrounding mountains and downtown Banff are unmatched.
  • UPPER HOT SPRINGS, BANFF

  • PYRAMID LAKE MOUNTAINS, JASPER

  • PLAIN OF SIX GLACIERS TEAHOUSE
For a great treat after a good hike make sure you take some cash and head to the Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse where you can sit on the deck of a beautiful little historic lodge, eat a freshly baked muffin, cookie or a sandwich, drink some tea, and stare at mountains while listening to the thunder of the glaciers breaking apart and falling hundreds of feet.
  • DRIVE THE ICEFIELDS PARKWAY
